NEWP(hoto) from FUN of Old Coin - x JJTeaparty

I had Todd (Blu62vette) photograph some of my type set and large cents at FUN on Friday, and I'll be sharing them
with the forum over the next few days.
This particular coin was purchased from JJ Teaparty via their old beige/cream colored periodic mailings they used to send out,
probably acquired around 1990. Back then, and today still, they were one of the few consistent providers of nice coins
at fair prices. And since Al Gore nor anyone else had 'invented' the internet yet, accurate descriptions were all we had to go on - so
finding a dealer like that was critical. The decades spent in the 7070 album have only enhanced the rich original patina the coin has,
and Todd did a good job capturing it:

Very pretty coin
<< <i>Is that black rub line on the slab?
Perhaps someone could adjust the white balance on the reverse image. >>
The coin was purchased raw and remains that way, the black rub line is on the coin itself, more or less noticeable depending on how the coin is tilted. I had heard some old envelopes, or envelopes with rubber bands around them, could produce this over a long period of time.
Here's a rev pic with the exposure and contrast enhanced, though the first one is probably more representative of the coin in hand:

I have had Liz and Gail send me some bust quarter stunners over the years!!!
Enjoyed numismatic conversations with Eric P. Newman, Dave Akers, Jules Reiver, David Davis, Russ Logan, John McCloskey, Kirk Gorman, W. David Perkins...
FWIW, I started collecting after the catalogue era. That must have been a terrifying way to purchase coins!

JJ Teaparty rocked then, rocks now.

<< <i>And Gale and Liz are kinda nice too...although Gale did try to run me down in the parking lot at the hotel at FUN. Ask her..it's true >>
Yes Gail is normally very nice - when she's not running someone over I guess!
I talked with her at FUN for about 10 min, about when she and Liz worked at Bowers and Merena, etc.
