I noticed them in their auction highlights. I miss Bear.

Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.

It is unfortunate that his heirs chose to sell the coins so soon. I think that better results would be had by waiting for a more robust coin market.

I also miss Bear. -- I always enjoyed chatting with him.

Bear always made time to converse on all sorts of numismatic and personal topics in a very thoughtful manner and an informative way.

He was one of the great assets to this Forum that helped me maintain an interest in sharing thoughts and ideas.

Bear bought some very nice coins, but paid retail, so his heirs will not see the appreciation they might otherwise have had. That said, everyone's personal economic situation is different and the heirs most likely have zero interest in the coins themselves. I hope some of the members here participate in the auction for Bear's coins.

While I see your point that would be hard to predict.

BEAR has been missed, he was awesome.

How do you identify a Bear coin?

By what it does in the woods.......

On a serious note, Abe's "preview" lots look nice nice coins. I'll certainly take a look when the auction lots are finalized.

You can find all auction highlights right here, Steve: http://www.legendauctions.com/news/highlights-gallery/

Look for additional highlights to be posted this week and the full sale to be online towards the end of next week.

A beauty , the 1929 - S SLQ has the Full Head ,but not the Full Rivets...does the lack of Full Rivets score a lower grade ?

I go to that page and get a blank screen ???

Edited: Never mind, it finally loaded. Not many coins up yet, will take a look at them later. Because Bear had a great eye for quality coins.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

I remember Bear posting the development of his Legacy Collection. The whole process was interesting. There were coins he was really sure of, coins he vacillated on after buying and ultimately sold. Eventually he put together a set to be proud of that spanned a lot of numismatic history.

For someone I never met in person, he made quite an impression on me in digital form. Bear could post something (seemingly) totally off the wall, and thereby defuse a thread meltdown-in-process. A kind and gentle soul, but also a skilled numismatist. We would do well to recall him on a regular basis.

I would like to have had the chance to convert him from jelly donuts to the maple glazed from my favorite local doughnuttery!

I know Bear had a super fun time buying those choice coins. Any loss in the sale is minuscule compared to that.
