1847 Large Cent help - large photos added

I was looking through some junk/ cull coins I had sitting in a box, and saw this Large Cent with the weird bit of extra metal on the 7.
Curious as to whether this is a date variety or whatever - looking for a bit of attribution help.
Thanks!

Successful BST deals with mustangt and jesbroken. Now EVERYTHING is for sale.
The feature at the "7" looks like PMD.
Hard to see if there is repunching at the date.
This may be a Newcomb-18 but the image isn't near
close enough and it helps to see the entire coin.

Defect in the die ???
It looks like it might be a gouge below the raised bit which pushed up that metal.
The gouge then filled in with debris?
You could explore this if there is a safe way to remove the debris, but copper can be reactive, so I'm not sure what to advise.
maybe a soft tooth brush and warm water would help loosen
the debris in the area of interest.
