I did well enough in the auction, price-wise, to think that the market might not be that hot. There was a lot of material in the auction, and some folks might be tapped out already. I know I am.
I guess it really depends on what your collecting area is. I've been buying proof Barber and Seated, and there's a bit of a market correction going on. So there was some nice material available at good prices. It might be a different story with half dimes, especially if you are like Barndog and already have excellent examples of virtually everything in your series.

-- that's part of it for sure. There was one nice coin that would have been an upgrade, but I am not in the market for anything with an MS67 grade...to the tune of about $9,000. I like the AU55-MS64 slot best.
<< <i>They must be good, at least for some dealers. The four categories I follow at JJ Teaparty have nearly been picked clean! I hope business is brisk. >>
I visited the J.J. Teaparty site and seen that. They almost have nothing left.

Wow! I got an e-mail yesterday about the Barber quarter and half registry sets they had acquired and admired the coins on their site. Not really looking for Barbers right now, but thought they were nice enough that I should think about picking one up for type...guess I wasn't the only one that thought that!
One small time specialist dealer I know sold out nearly all his higher circ early date walkers, including a complete run from 1916 to 1923 he had assembled in VF/XF, to one customer, a 17S Obv in AU55 to another, etc. He normally has a very nice selection, including duplicates of tough dates, but when I saw him at 3pm today, he had almost no walkers left, and said he was doing much better so far this year than the previous year.

good for them!
Tells me that if someone is selling, they need to go see Liz!
So far, all the early reports seem to indicate a really good show...for buying and selling....pre show, many thought it might not be so...Cheers, RickO
Interesting to hear different perspectives on FUN. I talked with a close friend, that also happens to be an ex-PCGS finalizer and he said the show was quite slow. He did come upon a nice $50 octagonal in PC62 for very reasonable money though that a customer of mine has wanted. Glad to hear others are doing good sales wise!!

<< <i>Will you spend less money by not going this year, Barndog? >>
sadly, yes. Nothing in the Heritage auction for me. I would rather be buying half dimes. Maybe at Portland?
