Help explain what is wrong with this Morgan
I have trouble recognizing when to walk away from a coin. Tell me what you see when you first look at the coin.
Thank you,
BMA

You're welcome.
Bigger still...
Other than cracking out and a quick since in acetone and resubmit. I see nothing wrong with it....and a nice looking Morgan at that!

Thank you all for the comments.
In hand, the reverse lacks luster. The reverse appears to have been harshly dipped and is now slightly toned.
Will acetone bring out the lack of luster on the reverse?

one could of bead blasted this with silver powder selectively....killing true luster or breaking a natural cartwheel
altered surface tends me to think bead blasted with a silver powder
can't really exactly pinpoint a cause here as an inhand appraisal is required
Hoard the keys.
I might BB it as a grader on the first try...it might very well grade on a second or third try.
Edited, ok, never mind, looks like it was no graded for altered surfaces. I guess my gut instinct was close.

that's what my eyes see. Just a bit of "added color" from skin oil that may or may not be a deliberate attempt.
also in the "glossary" of terms from this site.
thumbed
A term used to describe a coin that has been doctored in a specific way to cover marks, hairlines, or other disturbances. Often associated with silver dollars, it actually is used on many issues, mainly business strikes. The thumb is rubbed lightly over the disturbances, and the oils in the skin help to disguise any problems.
Not saying it is or not. But if there is something that caught my eye, it was that "reddish/magenta ish hue on the cheekbone /obverse and into the hair.
Practice makes perfect & nobody is perfect. So, practice being nobody.
still a sweet example with nice eye appeal for a 135 year old silver dollar there
alot have way more road rash then this
so long as you didn't cough up much
it'd fit fine in a dansco or type holder
