My First day at My First FUN Show...Day 2 and 3 Update

I made it over to the show alittle after 2pm and almost every dealer was setting up. The size of this show just made me dizzy. I started my adventure with Brian Raines Table as he was setting up.
He showed me more Washington Quarter Varieties than I have in my set including The 1969 1970 and 1971 Quarter all TYPE H. It was alot of fun to hold those coins in my hands and put them on the list with a few other and will go back tomorrow to see what kind of deal we can come too.
He also showed me a few OLD Chinese Coins with the wildest DDO's that I have seen. Went off to PCGS to submit some coins and can't believe Mike (valente151) comes up to me and says are you Tom?
Mike found a coin that replaced MY 1953 Proof Quarter that was stolen on its way to PCGS, So it was great to finally get to meet him and he also took 9 of my favorites that I have been wanting to Get CAC.
I saw Mike Shrub and than I went over to RPM2 table and was amazed again at the selection of Quarters including the elusive 1943 S Large S and that is another table I will be going back to add a few.
I walked around that whole show for alittle over 4 hrs and decided it was time for supper. There were many coins I want to buy and this maybe one expensive Trip.
I still hope to meet everyone else in the next few days and looking forward to my FIRST PCGS Luncheon... and of course Dimeman joins the search in the Morning as there are coins here for every collector.
I promise to TRY and take more pictures............Enjoy Tom

I'll be there at 10am tomorrow.
Looking forward to joining you tomorrow!
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
Hoard the keys.
Man I wish I could have split town and joined you for the trip but glad you're having FUN, we're at negative 25 degrees tomorrow
Have a blast!

My first FUN was in '05 (only one I have been able to go to so far) and it was SO HUGE for me.
So many dealers, so many coins. I wasn't as focused back then and was just in a whirlwind.
Takes notes at tables and do what you need to do....it all is just FUN and huge
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Wish I was there and thanks.
Look forward to hearing more.

<< <i>I sure wish a show of significance would come within 100 miles of me. >>
Me to, Indiana does not get many major coin conventions. But I'm glad you had a first great day.
<< <i>Your excitement is palpable....have a great time and buy a lot of coins…Cheers, RickO >>
Totally agree. Don't mind my sarcasm from previous post, please. That was more a reminder of the "fiasco". Which , in turn, makes the NEWS and that makes our hobby that much stronger. So my "digs" are not slams on the ways of the world…. Merely brazen attempts to "stir the passions". I'm actually very envious of those who TRAVEL the circuit. That really is what the INNER CIRCLE OF TRUST is.
And FUN is just one of those MAJOR parts of the WHOLE hobby. Thanks for sharing to all who are able to make these events
…. and that's to EVERYONE here who freely share. I love that about this place and the people , too. I know we are rough and rugged, but we are also sensitive and caring.
Most who really know me , know this.
My favorite people are coin people. As much as I tease, joke, jab, poke, and incite…
My involvement in the hobby is for the people and for the benefit of the WHOLE. Seriously.
sweet write up too
have a blast there tommy
You're making me jealous!
It's a terrific show indeed! Some of the finest coins you will ever see are in that room!
My YouTube Channel
I learned about these coins from other members years ago and have searched without any luck so Happy to add them to MY collection. I also picked up the 1945 DDO 102 and hopefully a Upgrade to the one in my set.
I do believe there are only 7 of these graded and its another one of those Quarters that I consider Very Hard to Find. I went out to the Lobby at 10 and met up with Jon (Dimeman) and went back inside with a good size crowd.
Jon has taught me not to be scared asking to look at coins in cases and also about Negotiating prices which are my two weakest points and its always fun to step outside the Box. Picked up a 1940 S Quarter in MS 66 PCGS holder with some Nice toning on the rims.
Today I also got to meet almost everyone of the dealers and collectors who post here. I did take many more pictures and from what I understand I maybe should not have as I was told that a lot of dealers and people do NOT want pictures taken....so I stopped.
The aisles were crowded and hopefully the dealers were having a good show. I feel like I walked 5 miles today and really had a lot of fun just looking at Different Coins than the ones I collect. A lot of amazing toned Coins and Blast white ones.
Tomorrow looking forward to talking to JT Stanton in Person as he has spent many hours teaching me the difference between strike doubling and the real thing and has done so only to Teach another collector.
I also am looking forward to the Luncheon and meeting up with all the other Members and hope to run into David Poole as his advice on NOT being Buried in the coins you buy has always stuck with Me and I still laugh at the Video he put together that disappeared off this site rather quickly.
Here are some of today's photos and thanks for all the Great comments, and TwoSides2aCoin I have always enjoyed your comments. Enjoy Tom

Hey.....I resemble that remark!
My first doing this show after 50 years. Baltimore pales in comparison to this monster. Although I did hit the ANA when it showed up there. Even better is that I left
Reagan National behind at 7º. What Bohican said about having a plan, and catch some of the many seminars.
<< <i>Holy smokes look at all those old farts!
It's Florida in the winter, what did you expect?
Best of luck in finding the varieties you're looking for, and having a blast along the way looking at all the neat coins at the show!!!

I was able to buy a couple of nice proof Indain cent.
I am trying to catch a sinus infection, which sucks. We will just have to push on. To many coins to buy and sale. Come by and say hello. Happy Hunting to everyone.
<< <i>For the record I love old farts and hope to someday be one, too. >>
I just hit 60 so I think I am officially an old fart.
First I must say my pictures were crap and the fact there were no Young people included. I saw MANY young people behind tables and some of them had very much knowledge about coins. Its good to see this hobby does have some upcoming coin collectors.
Started the day meeting Dimeman for breakfast at Dennys and was at the show by Ten. I spent more today than yesterday and as each day has gone by I have become more confident in the whole deal.
Every dealer I talked to was MORE than willing to help me out. Great conversations and again I got too meet some of the folks I have always admired from this site. I was alittle disappointed in calling JT and getting a message back that he was too busy to talk and would call me back.
I am sure he was Busy from the time he walked in till the show closed. I did get to meet and talk to Mike Ellis and that was a treat for me. PCGS Lunch.....The food was incredible and They made the BIG Announcement on the New Set Up for us Registry folks and Finding PCGS coins.
Honestly, I think this was a really cool idea and instead of searching every site for PCGS coins it can now all be done from your own Registry Set. I did get the coin that they give out and it was a Washington Quarter Everglades with the Fun Show on the Label.
Next up I went in search of David Poole and as I was waiting at the table for him I noticed three beautiful PCGS Quarters from the Poole Collection : } I needed all three for my set and there beautiful. 1944, 1946 S and a 1954 D All In MS 66. David showed up and I introduced myself and started to talk all things coins.
After 4 years on this site I still consider myself a newbie and for these older guys to take the time and talk with us newbies it does the hobby Good.
We laughed about the Video he put together and posted here before it disappeared and he does have a Great sense of Humor. I thanked him for taking the time and with some of the knowledge he has shared over my 4 years here and told him that it DOES make a difference.
Next coin purchased was a 1948 S MS 66 and was Blast White like David's 3 coins. I than bought one of the Quarters that Dimeman started to collect and happy to report he has gone back to the Dimes, And will pick up 4 more as soon as I pay him.
One he sold me is the 1941 DDO 103 unattributed and was added to Another submission to our Host today which made number 2 and I have at least 1 or 2 more submissions tomorrow, trying to submit the 30 million submission. It should be close.
I honestly have never spent more money and Had More Fun. This has just been a Great experience for someone who Rarely leaves his house.
Legs are tired and it feels good. Jon and I also got our pictures taken by the Penny Lady(Charmy) and you will all get to see what a old hippie looks like.
Great show and looking to finish up on Day 4 for me and than leaving Sunday to visit friends on the gulf side and in no hurry to go back to the Cold. Everyone should try to make this show at least once in there lifetime.
I just want to thank all those Dealers and Collectors that took time to Talk and show ME what a special and Great Hobby I have found. Enjoy Tom

Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
<< <i>Holy smokes look at all those old farts!
You got to look at it another way.....the old farts have already survived to become old farts .. how will the younger souls fare ?
Hoard the keys.
Looks like you enjoyed your trip to the FUN show also. I see you added several coins from the FUN show to your variety registry set and passed me again. I have a few submissions into PCGS and I may pass you back. Your set has more varieties than I do, so you deserve to be ahead of me anyhow.
Thanks again for all your help.
