Pretty Cool, and as far as I'm concerned there on the inside track, Mexican coinage is underrated IMO

That's pretty nice! Not to mention cute. I like the part in the video where she tells about learning of overdates from a customer. Nice that collectors likely stop by and share
a little knowledge and encouragement with them. image

I predict that these young ladies will do well, both in their coin dealings, and in life.

Kid coin dealers seem cute but like grown up coin dealers they need to develop some common sense business acumen, numismatic knowledge, thick skin and ambition. With those traits and some luck they can be successful.

Playing coin dealer with the parents' money does not constitute legitimacy. A lot of those so-called whiz kids we've seen over the years fall squarely into that category.

How else do 10 year olds get their start in numismatics?

Perhaps they used their summer lemonade money to buy their treasures.

I think you are coming down too hard on these eager kids displaying genuine interest in the hobby/business.

I understand your contra mode, WTCG.....but, I give interested kids a break.....they deserve it in this cut throat world.

Sounds like someone speaking from experience.

I happen to know these two young ladies. They may not be big-time coin dealers when they grow up, but they are learning about business and history, gaining valuable people skills, learning about themselves and how to treat customers.

At least their heads are not burried in a smart phone or video game.

    Hey Goldgully, it's WTCG...

Obviously 10 year olds need financial backing from somewhere but there is a difference between utilizing seed money effectively and playing with the parents' money to make it appear like they live the high life. Over the years I've seen many of the "wiz kids" throw (their parents') money around to give the illusion that they're successful when in reality they're losing money playing coin dealer. They buy expensive coins without the benefit of rational thinking solely to make people think they are loaded with cash, they spend $800/ night out at dinner at a show, they overpay for coins to make people think they can afford to overpay, etc. It's all smoke and mirrors.

If young coin dealers spend their seed money wisely, keep themselves level headed and earn a positive reputation then they should get all the encouragement they are entitled to. Act like a d-bag youngster and you'll get treated like one.

I've been there before. I would know.

    Hey Goldgully, it's WTCG...

WTCG, I recognized that I mispelled your handle immediately, and the CU Forum edit function simply froze for 10 minutes.

I knew you would seize on that minor point.

    My apologies for my dislexia.

I wish them the best of luck as they will be dealing with some nasty people as evidenced here and that happens with people new to the hobby as well as YNs and that is why so many get turned away as they do not understand that they must have a thick skin. If they don't have a thick skin the negative people will just seize on it and tear them down till they quit, sad so sad.

Bravo! Very nice to see. This hobby needs more women and the only way to do that is get them interested early.

My niece who is fast becoming a history fan will someday get a day at a coin show trip with her uncle.

God bless the children dealers, too. It's not an easy job. It takes intestinal fortitude, knowledge, and a niche. And it's good to have fellow servants on board the merchant train.

Or like I tell my own daughters, nieces and friends "You go , girl(s)"

Practice makes perfect & nobody is perfect. So, practice being nobody.

I think that is awesome. The girls will learn so much. I do not care what it is...lemonade stands, candy, coins...I hope more children take an entrepreneurial stance with things they enjoy.

We need more young coin collectors!! I will TTT a thread I made on my experience sharing numismatics with my children's classes.
    Collecting since 1976.
