1956 washington....grade opinions....***GRADE IN UPDATE***

so i'm thinking this should snag 67cam on a good day
66cam on a bad day...probably just 66cam as it's the die gouge rev
first time i'm seeing hairlines like this on a proof...i think these are hairlines...how bad do they destroy a grade?
sweet lil score though for $14 delivered
so close to a huge coin...oneday i'll make a darn you suck yet image

I am guessing the hairlines are actually die polish lines, hard to tell from a pic. I would be worried about CAM due to the hair of the portrait, from the pic.

I will go high and say 68cam.

I'm going with 66 CAM from your pictures. They look like hairlines to me, and a solid CAM IMHO.

Like the series but fairly clueless on grading them.

I agree with CAM and wish you luck on the grade.

    Nice coin and pic, btw.

Looks like a cameo to me. The question is what PCGS thinks about the hairlines. The one that stands out the most in the pics is in front of his eye. If it is as pronounced as in the pic, I'd be more of a 66 on a good day and 65 on a bad day.

Such a nice score! I like the die gouge reverse. No magnifying glass needed to see that example.

I've never seen die polish lines like that on a proof quarter. I'm curious what it looks like in hand. Obverse probably misses Cam designation so no dice. It also has some cloudiness just above "IN" near the rim.

    I'm saying PF 65, that's it.

Having made (2) FS-701 67Cams and a close PR68 that was a 67cam one week and a 68 proof the next I'd say it looks CAM to me. Can't speak to the lines.

Looks like a lock CAM. I'll conjecture 66+ on the grade.

I think the coin has enough hairlines to limit the grade to 65CAM or 66CAM. It's an interesting variety, though.

Hairlines are the bane of proofs... still a nice coin

i noticed that they assigned this coin ...coin #85988 (1956 proof cameo)
where it should be coin #507430 (1956 cameo reverse die gouge)

i sent it in under coin #507430 and noted reverse die gouge on invoice
but it wasn't sent under variety service as it has a coin # already designated

<<< needs to call customer service

whew...that was close as i called CS and was informed this needed variety service add on for the label
but this time...they let me add this service before shipping it out image
