I'm interested to see everyone's goals! >>
Just got back from PSA today a big part of #3 on my list of goals.
Try to get a 1953 (or 1954 or 1955) Stahl Meyer Mantle or 1954 Dan Dee Mantle card. Especially Stahl Meyer.
Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.
Well, we're almost 1/3 through with 2015. So far I have stayed true to what I wrote below. 1955 Topps set now down to 11 cards. '71 Greatest Moments down to five. '71 regular Topps set, I now have about 400 commons and most of the HOFers. I also purchased a Carew rookie that was not on this list but was on my 2014 goal list (and I'm also doing well with #4 below).
<< <i>My collecting goals for 2015: 1 - Finish 1955 Topps set. I only need about 30-35 more cards, including only one HOFer. 2 - Continue chipping away at 1971 Topps Greatest Moments set - I'm down to needing seven. Illl be lucky to get 3 or 4 of those in 2015. 3 - Work on building a 1971 Topps set. I already have most of the HOFers in PSA 7 grade. The plan is to get the non-HOFers in ungraded form. I've started this recently by buying a few lots. 4 - Spend considerably less on cards than I did in 2014. >>
- Walter Johnson - T206 Portrait PSA 1 or 1.5 - Centered with no facial marks, snow or creasing - Cy Young - T206 Portrait PSA 1 or 1.5 - Centered with no facial marks, snow or creasing - Wagner - Playing Days Card - PSA 1 - Centered with no facial marks, snow or creasing - Mickey Mantle - 1952 Bowman PSA 1 to 2 - Centered with no facial marks, snow or main image creasing - Mickey Mantle - 1953 Bowman PSA 1 to 2 - Centered with no facial marks, snow or main image creasing - Mickey Mantle - 1956 Topps PSA 1 to 3 - Centered with no facial marks, snow or main image creasing - Mickey Mantle - 1958 Topps PSA 1 to 3 - Centered with no facial marks, snow or main image creasing - Mickey Mantle - 1959 Topps PSA 1 to 3 - Centered with no facial marks, snow or main image creasing - Mickey Mantle - 1960 Topps PSA 1 to 3 - Centered with no facial marks, snow or main image creasing - Mickey Mantle - 1965 Topps PSA 1 to 3 - Centered with no facial marks, snow or main image creasing >>

<< <i>1. I am thisclose to finishing my 1974 Topps BB set, so that will be at the top of my list. 2. Continue to get myself organized. Made great strides with it this year but still have a ways to go. In fact, going to a local show tomorrow morning to get some more supplies and some more 1974! 3. Always remember to have fun. >>
1. Less than 100 cards away - shouldn't be a problem. 2. Not so much so far - TBD. 3. Actually yes I am having fun.
Collecting Topps Baseball: 1966-present base sets Topps/OPC Hockey 1966-Present base sets
I don't believe I replied to this thread in January. If I did, I believe I would have put down these main goals:
1. Complete my 1961 Fleer BK set in PSA 7 or better.
2. Land as many high eye appeal, preferably high grade cards from this list of RC's: Mantle, Mays, Aaron, Banks, Koufax, Clemente, Killebrew Jim Brown, Payton, Largent, Montana, LT, Lott, Dan Marino, John Elway, Jerry Rice , Steve Young Bill Russell, Wilt, Baylor, Cousy, Big O, Jerry West, Dr. J, Magic/Bird, Kobe Gretzky, Lemieux, Yzerman, Roy
3. Add to my 70's unopened BB collection (mainly focused on racks right now), complete run of BBCE 80's FB rack boxes
4. Try to stay on budget by self funding any hobby purchase with a hobby sale
As for how I have done:
1. Mission mostly accomplished, I have completed the set, but I still have to upgrade one PSA 6 to a 7 to fully complete the task.
2. Shut out so far because I haven't seen enough high quality cards that fit my budget with goal 4.
3. I have made great progress in my racks, I have almost completed a 78 rack box and am part way in both 79 and 77 BB. I have added 1982, 1986 and 1987 rack boxes to the collection this year.
4. This was one of my goals in 2014 and I didn't make it through February. This year I am going strong year to date through April!
Always looking for Mantle cards such as Stahl Meyer, 1954 Dan Dee, 1959 Bazooka, 1960 Post, 1952 Star Cal Decal, 1952 Tip Top Bread Labels, 1953-54 Briggs Meat, and other Topps, Bowman, and oddball Mantles.
<< <i>OK, here are my goals. I didn't pick impossible ones, but not anything I already know is going to happen either. A nice balance of achievability and accomplishment
1. Reach a personal best ranking in the Yaz master set registry. My highest has been 24 and I'm currently 25, so that would mean getting to 23rd at some point in 2015. I know that doesn't sound that impressive, but it's a very competitive registry, with many people constantly updating and the occasional newcomer flying right into the top 20.
2. Get my 2 raw vintage Cappelletti autos in blue flips
3. Reach 75% complete on the Cappelletti master set, while maximizing grades within my budget
4. Reach 70/80 complete on my 1959 Fleer Ted Williams set. Currently 51/80
5. Continue to make progress on my 1951 Bowman PSA team set of Brooklyn Dodgers
6. Obtain a PSA 8 copy of 1974 Topps Carlton Fisk >>
1. Crushed it. I'm currently in 16th 2. Still haven't done this and now I have a 3rd signed Gino I want to blue flip. 3. Check 4. Check. Currently 72/80 5. Actually retired the set and sold 2 cards. No longer working on that project. 6. Check.
Seems like I should really get around to subbing those Cappelletti autos.
<< <i>Well it's my favorite time of year getting to look back on the accomplishments of last year and setting my goals for next year

1). Collect a pack of each Hall of Fame inductee since 2000 showing top or bottom on an unopened pack (a couple scare me here to be able to find) 2). Put together an Olympic Basketball ticket set 3). Get a couple top tier basketball rookie showing packs at least 1 Bird/magic 4). Get 4 cases of 1992 basketball Series 2 and at least 10 Shaq showing packs/racks 5). Put together a set to Win my first CGC registry award (the superman comic record sale this past summer has peaked my interest to put together a comic set! >>
Well it's mid year review time at work so I figured I'd better check on my collecting goals too and I was actually pleasantly surprised. A little more work and I might get to 4 of the 5 by the end of the year.
1). I added a couple but have a handful left that may or may not exist. 2). Picked up a couple years 3). Got a Rodman and a couple stand alone Birds and a Johnson. 4). Picked up the 3 below so far 5). Actually put together two sets that won for '15 (they still let you win at 84%)
Well, we're around 3/4 through 2015, can we get some updates on how people are doing? Here's my original list with added comments in parenthesis:
1 - Finish 1955 Topps set. I only need about 30-35 more cards. - (Completed in June.) 2 - Continue chipping away at 1971 Topps Greatest Moments set - I'm down to needing seven. I'll be lucky to get 3 or 4 of those in 2015. - (I did get 3 this year. 4 to go!) 3 - Work on building a 1971 Topps set. I already have most of the HOFers in PSA 7 grade. The plan is to get the non-HOFers in ungraded form. (Need around 200 cards to complete) 4 - Spend considerably less on cards than I did in 2014. (Should be around $1K spending (net of sales) by year end vs $3K last year).
