1989 Upper Deck Baseball Pack question... UPDATE w/PHOTO

I have 22 random packs from an auction purchase...

On the back of 5 of them are the letters R.H. on the "flaps"...

Can someone tell me what this stands for and why they are on only five out of the 22?

thanks...

My understanding is the R.H. stands for Roger Hornsby in a 1989 UD card format. I think the year was 2007. Someone may be able to shed more light on this matter.

My best guess is that someone that once owned those packs put their initials on them for some reason.

From the information I mentioned above; maybe these sites will be of some use. I do believe this is what I was referring to.

Those 2007 Rogers Hornsby cards wouldn't have come in 1989 packs though. image

Ah, now I see what he was referring to. There are so many R.H. examples involving UD. They have used the R.H. for Rickey Henderson, Roy Holiday, and Roger Hornsby. The plot thickens.

I believe they are from the retail hobby boxes sold at Walmart. The other packs are from hobby packs sold to dealers only.

Sounds logical but I don't recall any UD hobby boxes in 89. Sam's wholesale had some cases but these very seldom hit the floor. This product was one of the hottest at the time.

    Thanks,

How does the "R.H." look when examined closely? Does it look like it was part of the sealing process, or does it look like it was added AFTER the pack was sealed and crimped?

I'm interested in this as well. I will be opening 10 boxes of 89UD next week while on vacation to US. Bought them over the last year while here in Korea.

And.. I just got pennied. Why does it change?
