Very good timing. There are two auctions I'm going to try to win tonight, and I'll probably have to spend a little over $100 total to get 'er done.

Man eBay is really scraping the bottom of the barrel for customer service help these days. Called them to inquire about why I'm no longer receiving eBay bucks offers. I've had more intelligent help at the DMV. After holding off and on for 15 minutes, the end result was the offers are randomly generated so they say I should get it next time. Whatever. I used to always receive them and now never do. Maybe I'm buying too much these days and they don't want to give me the multiplier.

this i find interesting, but perhaps should come as no surprise.....my habits over the past several years have been pretty stable in terms of quantities, nothing too far over the top, nor am i ever an inactive buyer for very long stretches.
the promotions come regularly. every time i see a new post here about the current eBay bucks promo, within minutes my e-mail & messages light up.
but, if your buying habits are quite active and you spend what they might consider to be at a higher level, then why would they bother to offer you a perk if you're going to spend anyways?
i don't buy the "random generated" BS. it's programmed to include a specific group of buyers. those who don't spend enough to fit the cash cow classification.

Just register another Ebay ID or two and make sure they're set to receive promotions and offers. Then when the promotion comes around at least one of the three will be eligible. If you buy a lot then you can easily hit the $500 cap for the period on one user ID. You can then use one of the accounts to continue getting the Ebay Bucks up to the $500 cap on each.

Agreed. At first he told me it is only offered to VIP customers. Then when I started to grill him on why I'm not a VIP customer when I sell $20k per year on eBay and buy about the same amount, he put me on hold for another two minutes and then came back with the 'random selection' BS. They obviously just wanted to get me off the phone.
I have 5 ebay accounts, I registered so many so that I can save enough searches for my broad collecting goals. I rotate through them for buying things, so they all have a similar amount of activity. Of my 5 account I got the offer on 2, mine seems based on lack of recent activity.
Account 1 - Last Purchase 6 months ago - Offer Account 2 - Last Purchase 2/6 - No offer Account 3 - Last Purchase 1/4 - Offer Account 4 - Last Purcahse 2/25 - No offer Account 5 - Last Purchase 3/3 - No offer
The last few ebay buck offers I got on all 5 accounts, so maybe the difference was just this time?
I hate calling Ebay for anything, so this is all great information posted today in my opinion. What's weird to me though is the consensus appears to be that these offers only appear to people that don't buy that much. I buy a lot on there. I would say that 95% of my collection has been purchased on Ebay with the other 5% being on the BST. So this further throws a wrench into the "Ebay only giving offers to bottom feeders" arguement. I have never "totaled" what I have bought on there in a 12 month period, but it's up there with what Gemint posted. Just food for thought. How does this really work? I'm not bragging at all either with how much I spend on the hobby, but figured I would let people know that this can't be true..the bottom feeder arguement.

The best theory I've heard so far is inconsistent purchasing habits. That would definitely apply to me and I've never missed an invite. I'm not one of the bigger spenders on eBay compared to others on the board, usually totaling $50-100 in eBay bucks per quarter w/a good percentage of that coming on the multiplier days.
What would be inconsistent purchasing habits Kyle? Buying a $2.00 card one day and a $50.00 card the next? Or lapses in time between purchases? I'm trying to apply my buying habits to why these offers come. I also receive them everytime as you do. My bucks per quarter usually end up around the same as yours, with a couple quarters being a tad higher. At the end of the day, I'm happy to receive these offers, but it's nice to know why. Since I've been back in the hobby, I've never gone with a big void in buying. There is always something to pick up, even with a narrow focus like mine lol.

I signed up for the Ebay Bucks program 14-16 months ago. I have never been included in these promotions. I have called Ebay 3 or 4 times and ask why I wasn't incluced. I got the same answer each time. The people that receive the emails are picked at random according to Ebay. I find this very hard to believe. I tend to agree with others here. I think it has something to do with buying habits. I usually spend around the same every quarter. My Ebay Bucks are between 90 and 105 each quarter. The last time I called and complained the customer service rep actually added $25 Ebay Bucks to my total. That was 3 to 4 months ago. I still haven't been included in a promotion. James
