Ooops. I did it again. 51B Mays

After my Mantle purchase earlier in the week (which arrived today!), I expected to largely be done buying for the year.

But then eBay had to give me another 10% offer with a 4x Bucks on top. Combine that with a fairly priced card, and it was a recipe I just couldn't pass up.

While it's not the most beautiful 2.5, I still think it's a pretty solid card for the price. Good centering and registration, but surface and creases are pretty rough. Still, can't believe I pulled this pair in the same week.

It's gonna be a Merry Mantle Mays Christmas!

Thank goodness 2015 should be a much more affordable year with most of my giants having been slayed this year.

Thanks for reading.

Happy Holidays!

Congrats on another great card -- but didn't Mantle play for the Yankees? image

Those two cards go together so well. You will love holding them side by side.

What's funny is that while I was pretty sure last night I was gonna pull the trigger today, I was still hedging a bit...until Mickey showed up, at which point I knew he needed a companion and within 20 minutes of arrival, the Mays was a done deal.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

    Awesome stuff! Congratulations Jim!!

As I've mentioned, I love the 51 Bowman set. Since you seem to have the 411 on low technical grade, high eye appeal cards from this set, please let me know if you find 51B cards of Snider, Campanella or Pee Wee Reese in the PSA 3 or 4 range with good eye appeal. Thanks!

    Jim,

You are on a roll. Good luck with spending less next year image With this hobby, I have found that no matter how many giants you take down there is always one more to tackle. And then another. Congrats!

+1. What a combo. I am bullish on the '51 duo.
