Dan--I have been following your Yaz set and am happy to see it continue to grow. There is something to be said for having a set/project that you don't finish. It is nice to always have something to go after. A lot of the fun in collecting is in finding your treasures!
Brad--Yes, now that I am done with the 61 set I am onto finish my 86 sets (I am doing two, one in 8 and one in 9). The 86's are far easier to find, especially the stars, so the challenge in those sets will be to stick with a budget and not overspend to complete them. I highly recommend those two sets. The 61 and 86 Fleer sets along with the 57 Topps and 48 Bowman are the collectible sets of the post war era in my opinion (you can make an argument for 69 Topps to round out a top 5).
Patrick, Davis, LarkinCollector, Jim, ssdawg77, jay0791, baseballfan and John--Thanks for the kind words. It has been nice reading the words of encouragement along the way. It takes some time to scan and post everything, so it is nice to see some replies from people who appreciate the cards and the effort behind the thread. I love posting my collection on here because no one at home (besides my 6 year old) cares much about my collection so it is nice to share with others who do appreciate it. Also, reading threads like Jim's, Patrick's, John's and countless others have inspired me a lot in my collecting so I like to share my collection in hopes of inspiring other collectors.
JBrules--I am not sure how big your set is. One of the reasons I picked this set first was because of its relatively small checklist of 66 cards. I feel you on being easily distracted. There are so many great things to collect in the hobby (unopened, vintage, modern, singles, sets, autos, etc.) it is hard for me to narrow down and just focus on one thing. I like collecting all of the above. I feel like it is easiest to find vintage baseball just because of the relative print runs, so yes there have been many lulls in building my set. In doing the set, I would say half the cards I bought just as single purchases from eBay or the boards and the other half from lots or set breaks (getting multiple cards at a time). There were definitely times that cards were not easy to find. What I did to pass the time between getting cards for the set was to just focus on other parts of my collection. If there were no deals on my 61 set, I would just find some Anthony Davis or Andrew Luck cards, or some 70's unopened racks, or a HOF RC single, or a centered Mantle to buy. That way I wouldn't get burned out or frustrated not moving my set along. The good news is cards will always come, you just have to be patient. I never really set a deadline to finish the set. Just take your time and enjoy it. If you don't have any cards to buy for the set, just take out what you have and look at what you already have. That is an accomplishment already, enjoy what you have already achieved and it may motivate you to keep going. If it doesn't then maybe you will want to move onto something else. Good luck!
Tim--It has been great getting to know you on the boards here. You are one of the good guys on here (luckily one of many I have met) and I am happy to count you as one of my friends. Good luck with your set and I will talk to you soon!
With the most recent PWCC auction I was able to snag one of the cards I needed to upgrade from PSA 6 to PSA 7. He is a very tough card to find 7 or better so I am happy to finally snag one. This was the second to last card I needed to upgrade. Last one I need is the last card in the set #66 Jerry West IA.
Somehow I missed this update, Steve. The Boozer card is very sharp and crisp. I personally am a fan of the rough cuts on the left and right borders. Best of luck finding the West IA.

Thanks John. Figures an OPC guy like you would like the rough cut on that card. I agree, nothing wrong with a little rough cut on a vintage card (OPC or otherwise).
Also, it took me a while to update this thread because I have been moving. It's funny how life goes full circle. I first started this set when I was leaving CA for WA almost three years ago buying my first raw cards that would later be subbed. I finish this set with this card as one of the last purchases I make while I am in WA. Anyway, the card is below and I couldn't be happier with the whole combo: corners, centering, price all came together nicely for me. The whole set as now configured has been updated on the first post in this thread. Thanks to everyone who has posted on this thread and followed its progress along the way. Nice to have a place to share my excitement!
That West is a beauty! Your set looks great, your late additions are very high quality (sharp) cards. I just hit the 50% mark with mine, but still need the big three RC.
I hope you start another thread like this with your 86 Fleer set that would be a sweet thread.
Steve ... that West looks great! Congrats on finishing your set. Now enjoy them!
STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
John--Thanks, glad to have the set complete. I am back in San Diego now, just about done moving furniture but still many boxes to unpack.
Tim--Congrats on getting to 50%. You have made a lot of progress in a short period of time. Glad my West IA 6 found a nice home. On the 86 Fleer set, be careful what you wish for (that thread is coming soon)
Mike--I'm not a heavy hitter like other folks around here so I will be content with my 7's Leaves more room in the budget for unopened and the other stuff I collect. And it's good to see you back on here where you belong!
Doug--Thanks. I definitely feel like I hit a home run on the last card. Looking forward to your next 52 update.
It looks like I forgot to update this thread with my two most recent pickups. I got these last summer/fall. I am very to have upgraded both of them. Now I am just looking for the Baylor and Wilt RC's in 8 as well.
