Shipping an ebay item over $1k with insurance

i normally print out my shipping labels on ebay. i like the discount and feel safer with the tracking all connected through there.

i'm shipping an item over $1k, want to add insurance, but it seems like there is a limit on there. Any suggestions?

after about $600 it's less expensive to send it registered mail. But you have to go to the PO.

Express mail insurance is also much less expensive for high dollar packages and package is in transit for 24 hours or fewer in most cases.

I typically FedEx overnight for anything north of $1K. FedEx (not to be confused with FedEx Ground) almost never loses anything and they don't destroy packages. In my opinion, when using FedEx overnight, insurance isn't necessary, offsetting the cost of the service.

You get the same postage discount on USPS Click-n-Ship and PayPal's Multi Order Shipping tool. My last pack submission to PSA was insured for just under $1k... I think total postage (Priority) with insurance was right at $30.
