I Wish Stacks-Bowers Would Restore Images to Old Teletrade Auctions

CoinFacts has a lot of Teletrade auctions listed under 'Auction Appearances', but these values are pretty much useless w/out photos of the coins that sold (at least for classic coins).

Do you think the photos were wiped permanently from Stacks' database, or do they just not care enough to add the pictures back into the lots?

I'd want photos for everything really

But the free guidance I give them here is to fix the auction bugs first.

I agree. ALONG WITH ALL OF MY OLD TELETRADE AND STACK'S AUCTION INVOICES. They promised a LONG time ago that they would all eventually be restored. Yeah, whatever S/B.... imageimage

Dimeman ... I notice you take every chance you get to take a shot at Stacks. Would you please tell us what they did to you to make you feel this way. I would really like to know. Thanks.

Wondercoin - The list is really too long. They don't do anything right and it is the absolute worst site I have EVER seen!!!

Their IT department must be Larry, Curly and Moe!!!

There was an experiment decades ago in which electrodes were implanted in the brains of some rats in such a way as to stimulate an orgasmic response. They were then put in a cage with two "dispensing devices". Step on pedal #1, you (I mean the rat) got a food pellet. Pedal # 2, orgasm. The rats starved to death. But happy.. Happy !!!!

I have no idea why this comes to mind. . . . . image

I just checked the images for their old "regular" StacksBowers auctions -- they are also now visible.

Nothing to do with the OP's thread, but this is hilarious. My professor of neuroanatomy in medical school was looking for someone to implant the same electrodes into his brain. He wasn't kidding......

I really don't understand the issues with Stack's website, as important as it should be to them, for them to allow those problems to linger, hopefully they have it corrected.

Yes. Go to PCGS cert lookup. If they show a coin was sold thru TT the pics will be there.

P.S. those were called stereotaxic implants and I worked with them in high school, which is a really scary thought.

I have been really unimpressed with Stacks as well. I will give them credit for this major step though.
I really never expected it to happen.
    Thanks to those responsible.

  • I just dashed off to the regular Stack's Bowers website. If a sale is older than about two years, there is still no image. Then I went to the Legacy.Stack's website. There are no images there. What am I missing? Where can I see old images?
  • Must only be selected images right now as I just looked up 1883-S Morgan and none of the TT or SB images are there.

Stacks' has sold a lot of great material in their regular sales which had pictures that are now "gone with the wind."

It might cost them some money, but if they maintained a resource like Heritage has, they'd get more Web traffic and probably more bids in their auctions to got with it.

BUT I will give them this.

I was trying to trace the sale of a Lincoln medal in one of the Ford sales on the Stacks' site this morning and low and behold, it came up!!! image

The web site archive search is getting better, but even for coins sold in the last few years, both pictures (Obverse & Reverse) do not always show. And, the large format pictures that are available during the sales are no longer available.

At the rate that things are going, it will be several more years until things are even close to satisfatory. So sad in this day and age where the technologies are available and should be easy to incorporate...

It's such a shame as they really have some excellent photos.

I was thinking someone else should build an archive like Archive.org. Would Stack's allow something like that?

pcgs has these and many other firm's sales digitized. lots of info but no images.

    here are a couple examples.

    http://www.pcgs.com/AuctionPrices/AuctionSaleSummary.aspx?af=38
    http://www.pcgs.com/AuctionPrices/auctionsalesummary.aspx?af=3

you can view lot detail by visiting each sale. if you know which sale you want to search, this info has its uses.

i tracked an 1873-cc n/a 25c via these data links. - there are other ways but i am/was running them all down via each method for posterity.
