<< <i>Seems like the fact that it was a $25 card is a problem here. Should have known that it wasn't 'significant enough" for most here. Would it have made to a difference to all you "high rollers" it were a $1000 card? Some of the people who post here are frankly card snobs. Maybe you should go to the 52 Mantle or 86 Jordan threads instead. Believe it or not to some people going to $25 to $50 is a big jump. >>
No need to play the martyr here because people post all kinds of cards on here of many different values without any issues. You called a guy greedy for raising the price of a card you felt like you got for a fair deal. Who cares what he changes the price to? You got it for cheaper. Praise akela and hit the sauce for the day.
<< <i>Why does 4SC use a BIN format instead of an auction format? >>
I would imagine that with 160,000 items it's easier to just put stuff on the shelf with a price than constantly worry about relisting auction items that didn't sell.
I guess I'm wondering why OP cares so much about them raising the price. So freaking what? It's their card, their call. OP got his at half that price, so what's the big deal? Certainly not worth a multipage whine and cheese fest.

Someone help me knife through the irony. Homeslice lands an elusive piece of cardboard, the seller doubles up on a dupe soon thereafter, and instead of whipping out his pompoms and doing herkie jumps in hopes of someone taking it off the board, he opts to lob avarice stones.
Here's an example of a way overpriced 4SC BIN listing. I sold mine for $50 which is around market value. I'm not knocking them for the price tag - just pointing out that they aren't necessarily the lowest price. I think what they're doing is listing high, raise the price if one sells, drop the price if it doesn't sell. Smart business really.

I wonder if their pricing structure is based on previous sales? There are no previous sales on ebay for that card. They may just chuck it up with a high price when there's nothing to compare it to and slowly work their way down. They're a big company and I would imagine the people doing the listings don't know the intricacies of every player/set market. So it could be a case of:
"What did we sell the last one for?" "We haven't had one before." "What do they sell for on ebay?" "There are no completed sales." "Go to Plan C."
Mine was listed but sold privately off ebay for $50. It'll be interesting to see what this one sells for. Occasionally someone bites at the super high price.

I'm not sure if the following view is totally relavent to the comments contained herein. This reminds me a bit of when there are 5 numbered (1-5) cards. #'s 1-4 sell for $50 each. Then the person who has the last one (#5) and has it up for sale for $200.00. Sellers will balk at the price and say "Why so high?" The previous ones sold for $50 each. But despite that there are 4 others, this is the only one left up for sale, hence the asking price. They may not get that price, but that final one is the only one out there up for sale, which makes it the rarer one.

One thing 4SC was not quick on was raising their shipping rates to Canada after the last US postal increase. Up until recently they had a shipping rate of $3 for any orders to Canada. They have now raised it to $7 on their website and I think just under $13 on ebay. Fortunately I live near the border and I can have orders shipped to a US address.

I guess they undervalued the first listing because it would appear you would have paid much more had they listed it at a higher price.

Most of the time a BIN will sell at a higher price if you are willing to wait, especially if it's a common that isn't low pop.
