New Card Store Opening In Mich.

Back in the day in the very early 80s card stores were opening all over in the Tri County area however now there is maybe a handful left at best.
This morning reading in our county newspaper a guy opened a store with cards, memorabila etc old and new in Downtown Rochester Mich on Rochester Rd in a 2200 sf store.
Sounds great giving a chance for youngster to get back in the hobby. The positive part is you get to see what you are buying and can compete with online pricing.
Looking forward to go down there as it is only minutes from home.

It's nice to read a handful of stories recently about new sports card shops opening up around the U.S. It's definitely a labor of love, but I've seen a shop here in the OC make it work with a combination of autograph signings, group breaks, "appreciation" days, and great use of social media and email.
Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

Downtown Rochester on Rochester Road is going to be some relatively high rent, especially for 2200 square feet. Best of luck to the guy who is making this attempt; he'll have to have fairly high sales to cover it. Any chance it is Krukcards opening a brick'n'mortar that will work in cooperation with their online business? That would probably make the most sense.

that does sound like Krukcards. I sold them a bunch of stuff years ago and if my memory hasn't gone completely haywire that is the place where they are located.

nice to see another place open for the hobby. I still get messages perioidically from Kruk cards so they must still be going strong

Tony ... the store is already open? All the addresses on the Internet still show Kruk Cards on Campbell St.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I emailed Kruk to ask if it was them but no response yet.

I just wanted to say that I stopped by this store on Black Friday. They have a very nice selection of wax and singles. They are very reasonably priced. Very friendly and helpful as well. If anyone in the area gets a chance check it out. Right on Main Street in downtown Rochester.
Also, this is not Krukcards as I have been to their place as well. Only a couple of blocks away though.

Back before grading became popular there was a store in Troy, MI called Troy Stamp and Coin. They had an excellent selection of older Topps raw.

+1 on the above. I stopped in twice so far and was very impressed with the knowledge and being patient with my questions (especially about newer cards). Bought several cards for what I would consider a very good price.

I worked at that store when I was 17-18 years old during the Sosa-McGwire home run chase. It always brings back great memories of my youth, Baseball and the hobby. I'm very thankful Tom hired me and miss him and the store a lot. I wish the Rochester store the best of luck but the rent on the Main Street strip must so high I can't see him staying open for long.
