    19.95 shipping and a 19.5% buyer fee?

    Idiots!

I would not pay 19.95 for 100 of their "early-dated museum coins" with free shipping and no buyer fee.

I wonder how long it will be before Canyon County CA starts sending out "Nigerian Prince" letters?

Despite the seller's name, I think this is not actually a local government entity.

Why do you think that, just curious?

Given the scope of things this seller lists, it sounds like a jeweler or pawn shop.

The overall negative feedback and decent amount of negative publicity on a simple google search suggests that this seller is less than reputable.

I'm not sure that the association with local government would make this a more or less appealing entity. Civil forfeiture is kind of a miserable practice.

This is a private company similar to the "police auctions" companies.

Possibly they have their own museum.

Doesn't the $19.95 shipping charge run afoul the 'fee avoidance'-by-way-of-excessive shipping charges? Is excessive shipping charges still reportable on ebay? I didn't see an easy link for that. IIRC there used to be an easy way to report the high shipping fees.

Good question, I sort of wondered about this but lacked the ability to articulate it as well as you have.

Nah, eBay nowadays charge their 10% fee on the shipping cost as well, so fee avoidance is moot.

I mean, it's not even round. They could have at least made it round.

But my favorite detail is the line about "early dated" ... for the life of me, I can't find a legible date on either face. How did they date it? Carbon?

Definitely NOT a government entity. Akin to those "American Mint" outfits. Just another sleaze bag trying to appear official, to convince the weak-minded that it's not a scam.

Glad nobody here was fooled. Hope you got a chuckle from it, as I did.
