Anyone bidding in the Heritage auctions this weekend?

Wondering what folks might have picked up so far?

No need to advertise what you're interested in until after it's ended, for obvious reasons.

Let's hear it - any of those lots coming to the forum?

I picked up some boxing lots - very pumped. E77, E80 and E125 sets / lots coming my way. I got them for the Jack Johnson cards, so everything else will be for sale. Feel free to PM me. Can't wait! image

picked up a couple of roses and a berra....happy with the prices but this was the first online bidding I have done with them. actually attended one at the national a few years back, but back to the point: not a fan of the after auction bidding process. complete bs. and I get the buyers premium, until I realized they are charging the seller a percentage as well. complete bs, as well.

i agree, not a fan of the extended bidding thing - wish it was by item and not across all items.

don't know for sure about premiums, but i think it depends on what you submit to the auction what you get charged. if i'm not mistaken, i think there's a minimum submission level where they will waive the fee and just make theirs on the buyers premium, but maybe someone else who knows for sure can speak to that.

there's def a sellers premium as well unless it's a really high dollar item. basically double dipping. add in the possibility of being able to bid AFTER the auction "ends", well....

let's just say, I doubt i'll bid aggressively with them again with any serious intent.

Sadly everyone double dips. Is there some one who doesn't?

DANG IT! Was after the Craig Biggio gamers, but all 3 have gotten away.

Favorite player, but $2k-ish after premium is just too much for me. Maybe next time - I'm sure I'll get another chance as these start to wander in next year.

this is the one i really wanted, but there were 3 and i'd have been happy with any of them - i dropped out around $1,200, so i don't feel too bad

I had my eye on a high grade 1973 set. Bid, topped, bid, topped, bid, topped, bid...you get the picture. Eventually it blew through what I thought was an aggressive bid. So I got shut out.

sorry to hear that - on things i know a little about the bids looked pretty strong so far. there was a nice 1954 aaron spa 6, $2k i think but it looked like a high end one so that seems about right.

that stupid premium can be a bit of a killer, but there were definitely still some deals to be had i think.

i'll share what i won tomorrow after the last of what i'm bidding on ends (or i get blown past), but i did win a couple yesterday that i'm pretty happy with.

OH - 1 more thing - looks like several of the lots that didn't sell are offered post auction including with a "Make an offer" option, who knows how that might go but looks again like some decent stuff still out there. i'm guessing these were probably reserve or minimum types of lots that just didn't get hit.

IN FACT - the 86 Fleer Jordan Pristine 10 is out there, Buy It Now including premium $71k, so kudos to the folks who said previously $75k would be a gift - looks like they were right.

    anybody else bidding tonight?

i got shut out yesterday, had a couple that i was hopeful for tonight but i'm down to just one - we'll see what happens with it

Virtually all of the unopened lots I had bid on now show an option to "make an offer to the owner." Does that mean the reserve was not met or that the consignor won the auction? Seems rather bizarre to be able to essentially purchase at a (I'm sure) higher price to "win" the item again.

Heritage has that function on lots-- I have made many an offer to an owner through it, for items that sold in past auctions. I have found that most winners are collectors not interested in selling however. The "make offer to owner" button is different from what happened with the MJ BGS.

Ended up the under-bidder on the Bo Jackson Auburn jersey. For the record, I believe this is the highest price ever paid for a college jersey (am pretty certain). Sigh. At least I don't have to scramble to sell off some of my unopened. Hah. Did pick up the LaDainian Tomlinson game worn jersey from his 150th touchdown/passing Jim Brown on the all-time rushing leaders list game. Quite the double-whammy. Happy about this one. Had been holding out for an Air Coryell era jersey (Fouts, Winslow, Joiner, Jefferson), but got impatient.

Wondo - the boxing lots were overall a STEAL.

AWESOME on the LT. That Bo was a nice as well.

On the college jerseys, I think the steal (assuming it actually was sold) was the Eric Dickerson. $2,868 sure looks like a good price to me. If I'm not mistaken, this was the same jersey that auctioned for over $10k back in 2010? Thus why I'm skeptical that this sale is actually real.

Last of my bids are in - hoping I can add to my winnings! Here's what I pulled previously.

Pretty happy with prices, considering they're already wrapped and condition looks really good on both.

Litho is signed by 21 including some toughs like Doak Walker, Glenn Davis, Larry Kelley and Angelo Bertelli

Very cool items! Congrats. I went back and forth with a bidder on another San Diego item. Topps rookie contract for Ozzie Smith. Threw in the towel around $800. Second auction in a row I was the under bidder on that one. I have a feeling we will see it again.
