Well Colonel, you succeeded in ignoring every point I tried to make about the similarities between Eisenhower, McCain and Romney, and headed straight for the bogus Valerie Plame case. The only thing I would take from that episode would be to advise my son or daughter not to accept politically sensitive public service jobs. The reason would be that you could be prosecuted, convicted and thrown in jail with your life ruined if the opportunity arose for the opposition to make you into a scapegoat.
As for the anti-war protests in Washington, DC, I knew nothing about them. I graduated from the small and mostly quiet University of Delaware. The rallies I attended were held there on campus (mostly in May of 1970 after the invasion of Cambodia) or in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where there were no circles of buses, tear gas or police using bully clubs.
As for presidential - congressional relations, the problem was not been between Congress and Rahm Emanuel . The problem is with the president. He has the worst relationship with Congress since Tip O'Neal referred to Jimmy Carter's congressional liaison as "Hamilton Jerkin." I would say that Jimmy Carter's ability to work with Congress was miles ahead of the performance of the current occupant. I think you would have to go back to Andrew Johnson, who served from 1865 to 1869, to find a president who is more inept in dealing with Congress.
But look on the bright side. We can both agree that the awarding of Noble Peace Prize to Obama was premature and driven totally by left wing European ideology. That selection hurt the stature of that award in my opinion. At least this year they awarded it to that brave young woman who stood up for the right to get an education for women and girls against those radical Moslem thugs who value and respect their donkeys more than their women.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Well let's put this way. John F. Kennedy's opinions would not be welcome in the modern Democratic Party. Remember the statement about how "a rising tide raises all boats?" >>
Funny you should mention JFK. I remember watching video of a Kennedy-Nixon debate a few years back and being amazed that American politicians once engaged in substantive, civilized, and respectful discourse. How far have we fallen!
I will disagree that JFK's opinions would not be welcome in the modern Democratic Party (or that he would be a Republican, as opined by Mr. Hall). I would also disagree that "radicals" are the leaders of the Democratic Party today. In a two-party system, electability depends on hugging the center line, a lesson that was largely forgotten in the years between Johnson and Clinton. Whether or not I agree with all of Obama's policies, I am proud to have a well-educated, well-spoken President who is not an international laughing-stock. When the Republicans run somebody who fits that general description, I will consider voting for him/her.
Anyway, sorry to be doing my part in hijacking the thread. This will be my final off-topic post.

Lincoln was a former member of Whig Party, which was strongly supportive business and capitalism. I'm not so sure he would be comfortable in the modern Democratic Party.
