Easy question from someone who never bought from APMEX..

What kind of turnaround time, from payment to delivery, is typical from APMEX? Thank you!

In my experience, they clear checks quickly - 5 biz days - and ship the day after or the following one. (same for CC).
I don't always like their prices but their service is the best, imo.

Add a day from when the leave the delivery slip because you'll miss it to the next day when you pick it up.
But I like Apmex and its worth it. Though, I still get locally at a good price so that is def more instant satisfaction.

I agree. The shipping is quick once payment has been accepted. I usually wait until they have some sort of free shipping promotion.

Smaller orders I pay with CC, (2k$ or less) always receive my order within 4 business days, usually 3 days. (CC fee does not bother me for things I need ASAP)
Never had a problem, in fact I quit dealing with another company, whom I would imagine to be their main competitor.
The company I no longer deal with sometimes took weeks for orders to arrive, and items advertised as being in stock were not.

I buy from APMEX when they have something I want at a competitive price. I find myself buying more often from JM Bullion since their prices are hard to beat with their free shipping. So what if it takes a few days longer to get my silver? I'm going to have it a long time anyway and I'd rather get the best price and save a few bucks.

This. If you aren't dealer and don't need it ASAP for inventory or orders, what's a few days to wait?

Generally, I only buy from APMEX when they have those attractive eBay specials. Since payment is by PayPal, the turn around is jut a few days. Been quite awhile since I sent them a check.

MCM is a few days quicker than Apmex in my experience.

I'm glad someone gets it. What's the big hurry? Buy from the cheapest reliable source that has the best price and have a little patience. Instant gratification is fine as long as you realize that it will cost you extra in many cases.

APMEX has a large presence on Ebay where you normally get free, quick shipping and sometimes better prices. They are also know to make bullion available in the US Coins error category that is eligible for ebay bucks.

I've done a lot of business with APMEX when their prices couldn't be beat and have always been satisfied with the service. There are often better prices for quantity from other reputable dealers so if you're looking for a large purchase of something in particular, just ask. When I'm happy with APMEX's price I don't hesitate to buy.

A 2014 AGE from SDBullion at $1230 + $8 shipping [$1238 total] is still a $6 better buy than the same coin from APMEX $1282 and a generous 3% off if you could get eBay bucks and 1% cash back. Net would be $1282 x .97% or $1243.50

Random year Maple leafs are just as good IMO [pure gold too] and cheaper at about $1211 a pop.

They have this regarding random year coins.

"Our choice dates. Gold Maples with dates our choice are typically previously owned coins, and may contain some imperfections such as scratches, discolorations, etc." Would these coins be expected to be discounted if resold?

I received a couple rolls of Britannias yesterday that I wasn't expecting until next week. Apparently after a number of good checks, that 5 day holding period reduces a lot.

It depends upon how you pay and if you use a check upon how well they know you.

In all fairness to APMEX they are about the highest payer out there when it comes time to sell. If anyone knows anyone paying more than APMEX [businesses that is] post here.

Most places charge more when you pay by credit card which is understandable. This is why I usually pay by check. If I can save a few dollars, I don't mind waiting a few days longer for the check to clear.

That 3% CC fee is just unnecessary cost to be recovered when it's time to sell.
