What are the characteristics of a 100 plus post coin thread.

A bit of conflict helps. As does a touch of wit and participation of well regarded forum members.

What are the other traits?

They often get to 200 when a poster slams a transaction and the counterparty responds.

if there is a bad transaction between two members three things are guaranteed --- 100-200 posts, lines in the sand drawn among members and the remote chance of a banning.

If you and Twosides are participating in the thread that's good for 40 posts towards the 100

On a good note, giveaways can get up there.

On a sour note, some putty related threads have gone ballistic.

    1) ***OFFICIAL*** threads
    2) Pi$$ing contests that have been a long time coming
    3) Open-ended post your popular coin thread. (Post your Stella won't do it)
    4) Recounts of bad transactions involving incomplete information.
    5) Carping about customer service or websites of high-profile dealers and companies.

Here's the formula: the OP comes right out and makes a strongly worded, brash statement about a controversial topic that has political implications. Some ideas for future 100+ post threads:

    * Big National Dealer is unethical and tried to screw me; I'm outing them here, but there are a lot of complicating factors, and I'm not exactly ethical myself.

    * eBay buyer filed a Paypal chargeback and is a blithering idiot, but I broke 5 or 6 rules of good etiquette along the way. Oh, by the way, the buyer is a well-respected forum member here.

    * With PCGS and CAC, collectors no longer need dealers' expertise for anything; blood-sucking dealers can kiss my _____ , I'll only be bidding in auctions from now on.

Occasionally a flashy show report with lots of glossy images and comments by a grumpy sports writer will extend to 100.

    So True.

Whoops, I've contributed nothing of value to a thread that has no value. I guess I fit in now and will have to put my stones down.

....a guess the Numismatist contest never hurts the count either.

This fellow collected mostly Ancients. He happened to be in San Francisco during the 1906 quake.

There are a half dozen or so players here that feed on the same troll/gossip/backbiting stuff over and over and over. Appeal to their senses and you got 100 potential.
