What I do not understand is how an unattended table was left with merchandise that was so easily "lifted". If this stuff was in a locked case it would not have happened. Who walks away from their table with valuable stuff laying out where it can be picked up? If our table is ever vacant, there is no unlocked merchandise anywhere. This is rule 1 at coins shows.

For those who didn't take the time to watch the whole video, at the end of it, one of the thieves appears to walk away with the entire case of coins (case included)

Looks like they cased the place Friday.
    Did the deed on Saturday.

I assume the younger male in the Friday video was the thief on Saturday.

Looked to me like he took an entire case and waved goodbye to someone on the way out.
Then he went back for seconds.

I only have watched it once so I may be missing some details.

  • I believe the video shows them stealing the whole display case.

Looks like the typical case most dealers display stuff in..........

The guy comes into show with a small hand truck or wheeled luggage carrier and he leaves with a display case.

Watch the 2:40 mark til finish.

EVERYONE SHOULD NOTE GIRL WITH LARGE TATOO ON UPPER ARM.............that is something easy to remember.

Lee came in and brought non numismatic things to sell a few times. It felt awkward because he would shy away when I asked:
"So where'd you get this ? ". It was just a standard question. The last time we laughed when he said, "man Joe you think I'm a thief, don't you ?"
I said, "I just think your shiftier than a ___ house rat, Lee… but I still love you man". He said, "yeah yeah, I still love you too.". And I said, "You behave yourself, Lee".
And he said, "I always do".

    RIP, Lee. image

Someone could make a nice buck walking coin shows and selling proximity alarms to dealers.

And you can tell from that grainy video that this was the same case?

    I can't.

How could anyone get away with this? There are so many eyes at a show, and surrounding dealers tend to know each other. I just don't get it.

Who was the dealer? I agree how the hell do ya leave coins like this unattended? Where is everyone to the point to where this low life can come back for seconds?????????

Once again, personal security measures would have prevented this. I feel bad for the dealer, but he/she owns the responsibility of maintaining security. You simply do NOT walk away from your property and leave it unattended. Cheers, RickO
