R.I.P. Richard Kiel - avid coin collector and actor

LanceNewmanOCCLanceNewmanOCC Posts: 19,999 ✭✭✭✭✭
.
I did a basic and advanced search to ensure this wasn't already posted using his name as the criteria.

i was reading in one of C. Logan McKechnie's vam publications, "The View" and in one of the articles i was skimming stated that Kiel (passed September 10, 2014 in Fresno) frequented the Long Beach

show in the 80s/90s. (yes, I've seen him in TV shows and Movies)

While I never met him or recall seeing him at any shows, if he attended the big ones, i'm sure plenty here have met/seen him.

The View covered this passing in Vol. 3, Iss. 13, 9-29-14 and also that issue covers the passing of Gene. L. Henry. 9-23-14

RIP... I saw him once at the child care my kids went to in Covina Ca., nearly 40 years ago. I believe his kids went there as well.

He was hysterical in "So Fine" with Ryan O'Neal. Sad to hear he died. I wonder what he collected?

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

<< <i>It would have been difficult not to recognize him

    Agree.

He was "heads" over everybody else.

Unless, of course, it was an NBA Coin Show. Then all bets were off.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I've never met a giant of a man that wasn't nice.

I had the pleasure of meeting him a few years ago at a convention and in spite of having a long day and not feeling well he still tried to be quite friendly IMO. I wish i would have known at the time he was into coins as I would have loved to chat with him about his interests.

currently watching "Pale Rider" where he starts as a villain and then ends up as a hero of sorts. the best scene for him is when he cracks the huge boulder with one swing of a sledge hammer and then gets promptly kicked in the nuts and goes down!!
