Question On My 2001 Silver Buffalo With Eagle Label

I was looking for a 2001-P Silver Buffalo commemorative recently and found one on eBay, thanks to a friend who pointed me to it. The label clearly says "Eagle" and the PCGS ID# references a silver Eagle, etc.

Any idea how many exist? Should I leave it in the holder, or is it possible a real Eagle was graded MS69 and the label reflects that and not the Buffalo? Suggestions?

Even PCGS goofs up, I believe this is called a Mechanical error.

Under cert verif it shows up as a Silver Eagle. The PCGS coin number is that of a 2001 silver eagle.

If you want to use the coin in a registry set it won't work as a Buffalo. If you want it as an error keep it as is.

If you want it for a registry set it will have to be relabeled.

Thanks, GrandAm. Was wondering if it had any value or if it's just a curiosity? The Buffalo certainly looks MS69. If I had it re-holdered, and I thought PCGS would do that if it was their error, it might go to MS70. Wishful thinking!

I wouldn't think there would be any value being a Mechanical error from

Get it back to PCGS to get fixed the Buff is worth a lot more than a Eagle in the same grade.

Excellent suggestion! I plan on doing that.

PCGS will relabel it at the same grade. It was just an input error when typing in the label info.

It's the Sitting Eagle label, very rare, I've only seen one

Breaking news: the coin was not only mislabeled, but the seller erroneously listed it as a 2001. In a bunch of PMs sent to her, she told me that the coin is actually a 2001-D, mint state. The image enlarger didn't work on the listing and she apologized for the confusion. I accepted it as an honest mistake and had my money refunded.
