Well, it appears to be uncirculated. Hardly any marks except for a (?) light scratch across the right obv field. I also think it has been dipped white and then retoned in an album. Not sure what effect the dip may have had on the surfaces. Personally, I am not too attracted to large coins with ring toning and white centers. I like it ok on dimes and half dimes but nowadays not so much on the higher denoms. JMHO.

Reverse shows quite a bit of dip residue from a past dip.
Also not a fan of this one. I don't like how the dark concentric bands just roll over the devices on the obverse.

Old dip, stripped white... but it has rather attractive toning on the obverse. I'm not sure whether to love it or not. I like it...

Rainbow toning on a polished coin? That's like a fresh paint job on a totaled car.

Sorry, not a huge fan. The toning is pretty and all, but the coin looks like it's been scrubbed to death.

In the pics, I see two possible coins.

1) (More likely) An over dipped and album retoned coin.

2) (More unlikely) A coin with PL surfaces that reflects a lot of light and appears brighter because of the angle of the lights when it was shot.

I think 2 is a long shot, but you never know.

Is the coin graded?
I don't buy coins that cost over a certain amount if not authenticated.

As most have indicated...cleaned and retoned...not that there's anything wrong with that....cleaned and retoned often seems to get slabbed as MA.

My first thought was "it looks oval". Then, "it looks unnatural".

I don't like the spotting or the unfortunate weakness in the lower reverse. The colorful toning looks a little cartoonish.

Better images might help. It might look much different in hand.

it looks like many other "I love it" or "I hate it" coins. I don't think there is much in between on coins with this look. Lots of people would be quite happy to own that coin. Lots would not touch it for even a bargain price. To each his or her own

That's the sentiment of a lot of the posts... so, what, the coin isn't worth anything at all?

Although, the OP doesn't give any context, he would probably get a lot more constructive commentary if he asked, for example, "how do you like this as a XF?" or "should I buy this for fifty bucks?" or "What do you grade this coin?"

I'll bet he'd get a lot of different (better) answers than he got. Still, I do not really see how anyone can just say "don't like it". I would sure buy it for fifty bucks

Some good observations here by Baley.

I remember asking a really smart guy here (stman) once what grade he thought a coin was that I had just purchased.
His answer to me was " I grade it about 140 bucks"
It's all relative as Baley points out so well.
