This coin is the Billy Fuller 1850-D gold dollar, ex-Heritage's 1993 Baltimore ANA Auction, via Doug Winter -- my first purchase from him.
The 1853-D quarter eagle is ex-George Walton (of 1913 Liberty Head Nickel fame) -- purchased uncertified from Jack Han€o€k in 1994, via Doug Winter.
The 1849-D half eagle was purchased from Al Adams, at the 2006 GNA Show.

Good detail with some luster
<< <i>How about an XF hiding in a VF holder...?
Ooh, that's a close one. PCGS doesn't go easy on 'trainwreck' die-states, so I'd blame it on that. My E/A is one I've considered submitting for reconsideration, because it's as nice as any XF I've ever seen.
Plus it would be nice to hit that spread
PCGS VF35 = $675
PCGS XF40 = $1400
