Hard to believe I just...

Bought a card from Dean's!!!

As the king of the high prices, I've been convinced for some time that he had no real interest in selling. In fact, when I see a mid-grade card priced with 8's I usually know who's listed it. But today, I just happened to be looking at Carew's and while this wasn't the lowest priced, it wasn't the highest priced either...and actually fell within the VCP mid-high range at 245. Plus, it might have been one of the best centered cards I saw in all grades, and was well worth the price differential vs. other 5's and most 6s and 7s I saw.

Looking forward to getting this in the mail later this week.

Thanks for looking.

Great centering and the corners look solid as well. Is there a surface crease or discoloration anywhere? Tough card to find centered like that, well done.

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona.

Agreed. There's gotta be something not visible in scan. Only thing I kinda noticed is that white borders seem slightly yellowed?

We'll see when I get it in hand, but it sure presents nicely.

That Carew hits the eye better than the mass of overwhelmingly OC other Carews out there. I think maybe 1 in 50 Carew RCs are centered that nicely. I have seen only a literal handful in my life like that one. Fantastic snag. Wish I saw it, LOL! If you wanna flip it for a quick profit Holla at your boy!

LOL. I'm kinda thinking it's been listed for years and never updated and prices caught up. I've bought a lot of cards on the last year plus and he surely has some nice stock...but prices that are so far out of line with reality that this is my first purchase from him. I was shocked when I saw who listed it.

    Jim,

Congrats on the card. Very sharp Carew RC. Will look great with the rest if your collection. Yes, Dean's inflated card prices have shown up in my searches before. His prices are generally so outrageous that I have actually searched his completed auctions before just to see what in the world he actually ever sells (and who buys them). Turns out he runs some auctions as well, so I guess he sells some that way. Perhaps the BINs are a way to attract off eBay offers? Either way, congrats on your card.

  • First, let me say nice card...

Second, everytime one of their cards comes up in one of my searches, it's priced at a pretty insane multiple. Here is an example from today: Stydahar. They are pricing the card slightly less than 5x what I would call the market price. Not sure who is buying. To be fair it looks nice in the scan, but the scan can't be zoomed. This is just one example. I see similar examples every week.
  • Very nice card
