Help with Trade Dollar 1876 CC

nibanny · October 10, 2014 9:03PM

I have been contacted by a friend to confirm whether this Trade Dollar is genuine or not.
I doubt that a 1876 CC got to Italy but I don't know much about trade dollars.
Can somebody help?

Thanks in advance.

It looks genuine to me. (I always like to get a look at the edge reeding too to be certain, but I don't see any of the usual tells for a fake)

Burnished..........a cloth type of cleaning.

Looks good to me, but it is awfully dull from cleaning (hairlines are evident on both sides, too).

Maybe the Italian went to China and brought it home?

Real is my wag

Thanks for the replies so far.
I am happy for the owner, he said he has more coins to show me.
They all came from some relatives living in the US.

I would proceed with caution, I'm not convinced it's real.

Might be real but very abused. Putting it in the melt bucket for many when it comes value.

I would need to see it in hand, but I have my doubts.

Looks authentic.....definitely cleaned/rubbed. Cheers, RickO

I agree with Dan and Dave and it would behove people to listen to them on the subject matter.
