I sold some coins and antiques last year and bought a condo in Florida, I sure enjoyed last winter and will be headed down in a couple of weeks. I bought, I think, towards the bottom of the Florida real estate roller coaster and thought I couldn't get hurt very bad. We own land in rural Maine and two homes there. It all figures prominently in our retirement strategy. I wouldn't advise buying raw land with money that you could use elsewhere to throw off some income, but we acquired ours back in "the day."
