Okay. You guys talked me into it. I just bought a few rolls. I couldn't pass them up at this price which has a premium over melt that is much lower than what ASE's are selling for.

Ordered 1 roll just to have something in my case come showtime in a few months. Not buying because I like them so the design is somewhat unimportant.

They are selling them in lots of 10 and if you buy two lots you will receive 20 coins in a mint sealed tube.

Considering what they sell them for [$28+], I'm surprised that APMEX didn't hire a few mercenaries to buy them up.

Who's to say they didn't? In fairness to APMEX, they do have strong buy prices across a wide range of products. However, it rarely extends to novelty issues like this one. >>

That buy price in comparison to their sell price won't attract many sellers. I've mentioned here before that APMEX is one of the better buyers for things like AGEs etc.

The Britannia is NOT a "novelty issue" anymore than the Canadian Maple Leaf or the Mexican Libertad or any other 1 oz silver coins issued by major world mints. POM tried to sell APMEX several scarcer 5 oz old poured Engelhard bars and they quoted him an offer well below what they were selling similar bars for. He started a thread about this with all the details but I can't find it. Their buy/sell spread on older collectable bars is quite large.

On Monday when this sale first started, apmex's posted buy price for this item was spot +$6.
However they pulled the posted buy price later in the day. I'm assuming after they got word of this sale.

Got my roll today. Mine came with blue security tape on top. Do you know who puts the tape on? Is it JM Bullion or the manufacturer? I'm just curious if this roll has been searched.

The blue tape is from the mint. Cant really tell if it has been searched because the tape is not tamper evident.

It seemed to be tamper evident to me. When I started peeling one side, the word "open" became prevalent. Maybe I'm wrong.

Mine was the same way. Seems like one corner of the lid was partially out but the security tape was intact. One could ask JM who sealed them.

It seems that the seal is the original from the Royal Mint.
Many pics on the internet with the same seal, cannot all be from JMB.

So, are we opening it or not?! imageimage

I'm leaving mine sealed. When I see unsealed rolls I assume they've already been searched and all the 69's and 70's have been removed.

The blue seal is definitely a security seal and it has a unique id number. As I peel off the blue tape, the white "open" words appear. It is definitely a tamper proof seal. I'm keeping mine sealed, although I would love to take off the seal to look at it.
