Good morning! Today I am thankful for...

In light of the fact that Mike has passed away, people losing their collections, bad news, etc... I thought it prudent to cheer things up a bit and create a thread about stuff or people on here we are thankful for. Who knows how long this thread will continue on, but the point being that it's a place where we can come and say thank you or things you're thankful for in regards to the hobby.

I will start off by saying that it's amazing how a group of people, many who have never met in person, can come together from across the globe and do a good deed to bless a family in need.

Have a good one folks!

Thankful for a crisp fall morning with plenty of sunshine. If that weather doesn't say football and playoff baseball (Go O's!!) then nothing does image

I'm thankful to have an outlet to share my collecting thoughts and pickups with people that share my common interest.

I'm thankful for all the knowledge that I have gained over the years from reading this board.

Finally, I'm thankful to my wife for "letting" me spend money on cards image

  • I am thankful I rediscovered the joy of this great hobby. The members here have provided me with a great education and inspiration for my collecting goals.

I am thankful my back surgery and recovery has gone about as well as one could have hoped for. I am in no pain for the first time in years.

I am thankful for my wife - 22 years next month and counting.

Nice idea for a thread - thanks for starting it!

...our brave men and women overseas. A can was opened on our adversaries while we were sleeping, so once again an enormous debt of gratitude is owed. Because of those selfless compatriots, we are able to freely jack around with cardboard.

All this. And more aspect of CU that I'm grateful for is the opportunity to buy, sell and trade with members. I've lost track of how many deals I've made in the last year. I really appreciate it because my nearest card shop is 90 mins away and eBay gets tedious. And I don't have friends who collect.

Life sort of sucks for me at the moment. I have a $60k degree that I haven't been able to use. Work in retail. Away from home. Nearest full-time hockey rink is 2 hours away (playing hockey regularly has always been a major, major stress reliever for me). But I'm definitely VERY thankful for my beautiful fiance and our son. Also thankful to PSA for this board and the collectors who make it worthwhile.

Thanks for the happy thread Guru image

I am thankful that I can spend each day with a wonderful wife and raise two wonderful children. I am thankful that CU allows me to come together with a great group of fellow sports card collectors to share our collections with one another and allows me to learn things about the hobby each and every day.

I'm thankful for this board quite a bit...such an amazing outlet for me in many ways. Most of all thankful for my beautiful loving wife and my son and how proud he makes me feel to be his Dad. Can't complain about much, that's for sure.

Thankful for late September baseball. Even the meaningless games have great stories, like the guy from Texas that got his first MLB hit after being in the minors for 13 years. Was watching the Tigers last night and felt like I needed to head down to the ballpark on Wednesday to pay my respects to Paul Konerko from the White Sox. Every time a career like that comes to an end I feel older (and more blessed).

I am thankful to be with my family visiting the Rocky Mountains at the moment.

Our 8-year-old son had a heart that couldn't handle the elevation of this place for the first few years of his life.

Thanks to successful surgeries and God healing the pumping function of our son's heart (something that even his surgeons and cardiologists have agreed they could not fix and has happened because of a "higher source"), his heart is strong and ready to handle places like this.

Thankful for my awesome wife and three great kids.

  • Good afternoon gents! Today I'm thankful for my two sons and that I get to spend the day with them. Have a great rest of the day guys!
  • More than a good topic.

    I am very thankful for, hobby-wise, :

    1. That I discovered baseball cards at a young age, and have stayed with them off and on since 1961.

    2. That I discovered the mail order firms of the mid-60s, Wholesale Cards Co. and The Trading Card Co.

    3. That I was able to attend an early adult hobby convention, the major Detroit show in 1972, thanks to the kindness and compassion of my dear mother.

    4. That I was very privileged to finally get the one card I wanted most---an exceedingly attractive specimen of the 1953 Stahl-Meyer Franks Mickey Mantle. This was accomplished 15 years after I got the first card I wanted the most---a '52 Topps Mantle. I wish I still owned that one. I sorely miss it.

    5. For my precious wife of 30 years, who has stood by her man, and encouraged him in his hobby, as long as he doesn't overdo it. We were given a marble rolling pin as a wedding gift. We have a family joke that if I should get out of line, she will indeed knock me one. Fortunately for me, she hasn't had to use it yet.

    6. For my hobby friends, editor Tom Bartsch of Sports Collectors Digest, and the guys and few gals on the PSA and Net54 message forums.

  • Good morning guys!

Today I'm thankful for 3 things...

    1. My father in law who is coming over to help paint our trim today.

    2. As I was cleaning things up and packing my collection away for this painting project, I realized that I have some pretty cool stuff. Thankful that I've been able to find these gems that I consider a way of experiencing the past.

    3. This morning I'm meeting the guy who is like my grandfather. Both my grandfather's passed away when I was young and he has taken me under his wing for a long time.

    Have a great day guys!

    1. My faith

    2. My wife, 2 kids, and extended family.

    3. I am sitting at the urologist getting ready to get a stent out after having a kidney stone last week. So, I am thankful for life without pain.

    4. My steady job to be able to provide for my family.

    5. Freedom, although I think it is in danger.

  • Morning gents!

    Today I'm thankful for...

    1. Getting to actually see MY doctor instead of the fill-in. It's been difficult dealing with the fill-in as I've been having health issues for about 2 months now.

    2. The doc thinking my problems and pain have been coming from my gall bladder.

    3. The ultrasound tech that was really nice as well as the lab nurses who took my blood.

    4. A patient wife and family who have waited on me the last 2 months as I've suffered in pain and not knowing what is actually going on with my body.

I'll hear back in a couple of hours what's going on. Doc said if it's really severe then I'll have surgery today. If not, I'll schedule it out. Till then, I'm off my feet and resting. Be well today friends.
