PSA Test Slabs

Anyone know the value (if any) on these. Going through boxes, I found an OLD test slab of a Rob Deer 1986 topps card.

    Sounds interesting. Is this before PSA was slashing cards? Do you have pics?

    been buying them for years around $4 each. I think they are kinda cool.

    It was my understanding the purpose was to show dealers/collectors what a graded card would look like... just marketing. Not sure how/when they were distributed and as you can see, there were several different times they were issued (due to the fonts).

    yeah, they don't go for much more than that. here's one that's been listed for a while....

    I believe back in the day you could call in and request a "grading packet" and they sent 1 to ya just to see the finished product....not worth a lot, but I like them and fairly rare these days.

    if anyone starts looking for them, get really fond of "billy sample" cards. I get a good little personal chuckle and have even contemplated requesting/starting a "billy sample basic topps set" just for the fun of it.

    I would have to think the Griffey would have some interest from a Griffey PSA collector since they have to be very rare for a particular card... especially that font. Have you ever tried listing it?
