blocklist ADD jkel 2512
Sold a coin to this guy, he bought it last minute before labor day weekend, auction says registered mail, We send a courtesy message asking if time critical as it takes a week to deliver..Messages goes unanswered, then he left negative feedback saying still haven t received coin (he expected it in a few days) and goes on a rant, trying to pass blame on us (the seller) when obviously his ignorance of details and the fact that he missed a gift or something. Obviously they waited till the worst time right before he needed it, expecting the laws of physics the fact its labor day weekend etc to be averted for him. scapegoating on us. Opened a case asking for tracking details , when it was sitting right on ebay for him to see and track.

How long did it take for you to get the coin to him from the day he paid for it, until the day it was actually delivered?
I haven't given a neg. for years sure hope I don't have to now.

Irrelevant question. The valid question is how long did it take from receiving the payment to shipping it, and how did that compare to the stated time in the listing. Especially with Registered Mail (where fair warning was given about delivery speed), the onus for delivery time is not on the seller. Was I liable for slow delivery the time a package going from Seattle to Wisconsin took a detour and went to Hawaii? The package in question was shipped within a business day of receiving payment.

I don't recall asking you anything? Why are you answering on behalf of the OP? The question still stands, how long from the day he paid until the day it was delivered?

By the way, I will save you the effort: Your recall of not asking me anything is correct--you didn't.

Just like PCGS, I've stopped using Registered mail several years ago. Anything above $750 goes out via Priority Mail with Sig. Confirmation. Usually gets delivered within 3 days anywhere in the US + Hawaii and Alaska. Never had an issue.

Someone who says a question is irrelevant needs some manners. I don't just indiscriminately block buyers based on someone saying you should. The coin was sold on 8-27 and if he still has not received it, no wonder he is ticked. Did he pay right away? When did he get it? Seems relevant to me, and I asked. I personally do not agree with using this forum to carry out justice on eBay buyers/sellers, since it is always one side of a story.
I no longer block people because others have an issue without knowing what all the bits and pieces, from each side, are.
Those that post complete exchanges give us a chance to see that. Knowing just 1 side doesn't say much. We don't even get an actual ebay auction # to have any info on.
We don't know how long from time purchased until out the door into the hands of the postal service.
We don't know if the buyer was on vacation when the seller sent an email (bought just before labor day weekend then a message was sent to him with a question.... was that sent IMMEDIATELY upon purchase, or a normal day later? I wouldn't fault anyone for sending during the next business day but we just don't know).
We get the buyer being blamed for waiting to purchase from an "auction". Hmmm... was it an auction or was it a BIN? If an auction, then we can't blame the buyer as it is what it is when it comes to an auction ending. If it is a BIN, then let's just blame the buyer for maybe not noticing it until then and buying it when he did. Buyer's should never purchase from sellers.
Personally, when I see posts by sellers, like this, I rarely block the buyer or even think much of it. Rather, it shows me more on the seller/poster and I am more inclined to think not-so-great things about them and how they view/treat others and I often choose NOT to even think of them when I purchase in the future.
Threads like this as bad as OT threads here..... just wasted space except to those that want to jump on the "block someone for breathing and/or sneezing" crowd.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

good point. I will never understand, why some sellers insist on using "Snail Mail," instead of Express Mail on moderately priced coins ($3k-$5k range)
Peace of mind for me. Anything over $500 goes registered mail. Never had a registered mail item lost or stolen.

Under the new defect system at eBay, yes, you ARE liable. If the shipper you use misroutes the package or is delayed due to weather, it is YOUR fault for having chosen to use that shipper. You should have chosen to use a more reliable shipper than USPS like FedEx... and if next week FedEx is late delivering a parcel, then it's your fault for not using a more reliable shipper than Fedex like USPS.
I'm not trying to be a smartazz, but that is truly what eBay believes. EVERYTHING from the point of payment to receipt by the buyer is the seller's responsibility regardless of what is or is not under their direct control, and you are expected to know (without communicating) what the buyer wants. If the buyer does not like the color of the package the item is in, that is your fault and you should have known better. If you used packing peanuts instead of bubble wrap, and the buyer wanted squishy poppy bubbles, that is your fault as you should have known to use the correct packing materials the buyer wanted.
Seriously, they have come right out and said that ANYTHING that MIGHT cause a buyer to not want to return to eBay is a defect and is your fault. Period.

Those are interesting assumptions...that 3-5K is a moderately priced coin for most people, that this is the range of value in this case and that the entire reason
the postal system came up with Registered Mail is invalid.

In 14 years selling on eBay, I've never had any type of mail stolen. Knock on wood.
I wish the PO would disclose a % of what mail gets lost or stolen from the 500 + million processed daily. Your odds of being a statistic got to be almost as good as winning the Power Ball drawing, which btw is now at $149 million.
<< <i>Where is the link to the auction? >>

I would never neg anyone without discussing the situation over email, first. This clown is too trigger-happy for me.

Especially since, at the top in the ebay portion, it says "standard shipping" and then "estimated within 4-7 days".
Yep, "registered" is in the text portion, crunched just above the first large picture, but, it is ebay and one really should make things easy and not having to jump through hoops for relevant info.
For shipping, if one clicks the link at the top:
Shipping and handling Service Delivery* US $7.00 United States
Standard Shipping (USPS First Class Package®) Estimated within 4-7 business days
* Estimated delivery dates- include seller's handling time, origin ZIP Code, destination ZIP Code and time of acceptance and will depend on shipping service selected and receipt of cleared payment. Delivery times may vary, especially during peak periods.
Handling time Will usually ship within 2 business days of receiving cleared payment.
So, we all know ebay isn't super caring about what a seller does, and they try to default and go the easiest route, but I do think that if something is going to be out of the norm, in a not so good way (ie...registered mail for shipping times), the seller would be best to call it out and really make it clear. Not leave it buried where it is easy to miss.
Just my thoughts from having been a buyer, and a seller, on ebay.
