Happy Birthday to me

Here's how addicted I am to sportscards. Not only did my wife and son surprise me with a trip to BBCE on Saturday, but I ordered some goodies yesterday from Steve to arrive today for a bday present to me. I bought 3 Topps football boxes that I needed for my display (tough to find the years in the 90's of just basic Topps Football - cool project though), and 2 packs of topps baseball cards from 1978 to 1989...wooohoooo. I wonder how long Steve will be able to sustain the ability to offer vintage packs like this...it's really going to get tougher in years to come in my opinion, but to walk down memory lane in real time is really something special. Anyway, my sons first cross country meet, lou malnatis for dinner, my lovely wife and a box from Steve..ya, today is a good day..thanks for reading.

    Today is my birthday, too!

You inspired me to pick up something special for myself. Afterwards, I might buy a card or two, too.

I am a coin guy who lurks on this forum. I have to ask, do you guys chew the gum when you open old packs? From what I remember as a kid, the gum was rock hard back then so I imagine it would probably be just fine.

  • Happy Birthday! Nice pickups and be sure to enjoy Lou Malnati's! I miss the deep dish since I moved from Chicago at the end of February. I liked LM's but our favorite was The Silo in Lake Bluff.

    Looking forward to the rips.

The birthday was great. My son came in 13th out of 70 runners and the pizza was as always crazy good...didn't get around to opening any packs but put them in my display for near future rips. Sorry to disappoint.

    No problem!

Glad you had a great birthday.

Keeping them unopened is the allure. As long as they're unmolested - there might be a Molly RC or Ozzie? Once opened - the mystery's gone.

    Nice pic BTW!
