Here is the full read...
Ray Rice, the NFL, and the Baltimore Ravens received massive scrutiny in their handling of the case. But the victim at the center of it hasn't received that much attention. Janay Rice is a 26-year-old native of Mount Pleasant, New York. Janay met Rice while she was attending junior college and Rice was playing football at Rutgers University.
The couple began dating shortly after Rice was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens into the NFL, and moved with Rice to Maryland. Janay then enrolled at Towson University, and on the day of her graduation in 2010, Ray Rice proposed.
Two years later, Ray and Janay had their first child Rayven in 2012, according to International Business Times. In February 2014, the couple were arrested after an altercation on an elevator at the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Both were charged with simple assault. Janay's charges were later dropped, but Rice's were elevated to aggravated assault on March 27th, 2014.
In the first video released by TMZ on the incident, Rice is clearly shown dragging an unconscious Janay out of the elevator. The NFL reacted by suspending Rice for two games, but it was only until a second video showing Ray striking and knocking out his then fiance that the Ravens terminated Rice's contract and he was indefinitely banned from the league, according to ESPN.
On September 9th, Janay released the following statement in a now private post on her Instagram page.
"I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I'm mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it's reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don't you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you've succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!"
<< <i>Also, none of us know the circumstances behind this incident. What did his wife do and say? What mental state was Ray Rice in when it happened? What if Ray Rice had just found out she had slept with his best friend and was telling him she was going to do it again? What if he was drunk out of his mind when this happened? What if she was threatening him in some way? Or what if he tried some new drug that totally screwed up his mental state?
If all this came out, and it was found that she was in fact sleeping around with guys, or taking his money, or threatening to kill him, would that change your opinion about this incident? If he was on Cocaine and Adderall and has no memory of even doing this, what would you think? Again, none of this condones what he did and most of that is a long shot. But my point is everyone is quick to judge without the true facts. Personally, I have made some huge mistakes I wouldn't want the world to see when I was drunk. Nothing violent, but the point is every one of us have something to account for, whether it's public knowledge or not >>

It very much seems as though you are at least trying to condone Rice's behavior by presenting a number of scenarios that you imply may change the severity of the sheer brutality demonstrated during the attack and shocking callousness that followed it.
To answer your questions... no, none of these scenarios would justify nor lessen how abhorrent and cowardly his actions were in that elevator footage.
But I do agree with your sentiment about Rice having made a mistake. He obviously needs some emotional help, but if he is never allowed to play football ever again because of this one incident, that seems excessive and unfair punishment against this young man based on what we know so far.
The 26-year-old Mount Pleasant, New York, native has been with Rice for six years. They met in high school and kept in touch while he was at Rutgers University and she was at a junior college, reports Larry Brown Sports.
Watching the way he picked her up in the elevator and dragged her reminded me of my cat this morning dragging this huge rat!! There was no love involved.
I find it funny how the media and society pick and choose which event they want to pull the pitchforks out on. I don't agree with what Ray Ray did. Not cool at all. I am perplexed with the NFL and the Ravens. Why do you have to do a knee jerk reaction "after" the new video comes out? It is a PR move.......that is all. All about the $'s. How did they think she got knocked out? Also, Ray didn't just decide he was going to hit her.........meaning I am sure he was exposed to this as a child. You don't just learn this from out of the blue. If society really wants to fix this issue, go to the root cause. Teach kids in the home that this is not acceptable. Don't let your kids see you hitting each other.........Husband to Wife AND Wife to Husband. It happens both ways.
BTW, do you know who the highest grossing athlete was the last four years..................................Floyd Mayweather. He has 4 domestic abuses charges against him for beating his GF's like he does his opponents. Worst punishment he has gotten is 90 days in the county jail. Where is the public out-cry?????????????????

Snorto, after re reading my post, I can see how it may come off that way.
Of course, his actions were sickening. But, as a society, we have become so quick to judge people without the facts in front of us, it's disturbing. It just reminds me of the Salem witch hangings. Don't you think the media has gone out of their way to destroy both Ray Rice and his wife?
The knee jerk reactions are just completely ridiculous. Now Nike has terminated their contract with him. They held on to Tiger Woods and Kobe Bryant when they were going through their stuff. Nike publicly is telling us that his behavior is unacceptable to their moral standards. That's comical. The reality is Tiger and Kobe were huge to the bottom line, being the best at their respective sports. Ray Rice is very replaceable and they now become a company that is respected for what they did. BS.
Jerseys are being pulled, All-Madden tanked him, etc. It's as if he doesn't exist. The NFL has no problems keeping guys that have multiple DUI's, drug offenses, battery charges, and domestic abuse charges (NOT FILMED). Everyone in the media are just a bunch of followers.
Again, I'm looking at a bigger picture. I am not in Ray Rice's corner on what he did by any means. I don't want anyone tho think I condone, under any circumstances, what he did.
This is just another reminder of how powerful and how much control "the media" has on society. You'd think Ray Rice was a serial killer the way this story is being reported. The media controls most of this.
Sorry for the multiple rants. This isn't necessarily the forum for this stuff, but some issues just get me riled up in their hypocrisy.

Why are you Shushing him? He proposed while he was playing at Rutgers. Gold digger? Was Rutgers paying him under the table?
I think dating college players is a bad strategy if you want to take up gold digging
