    here's my 2 cents--keep the rips for Football Sundays--do 2 a day--1 at the 1 PM game--maybe the 2nd at Sunday nite FB--otherwise you'll have to reload!!

    and it'll bring a nice touch to football Sunday

    not that I am trying to tell you how to rip your packs--image

    Lions fan? You must be from Michigan (let's be honest, there's not much reason otherwise .. :/). Where are you from?

    Yes, grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and went to school at MSU. Been cheering for the Lions since 1981 and have lived through all the pain of mediocre QB's, the waste of Barry Sander's talents, the drafting of multiple WR #1, etc. When the franchise is mired in QB names like Hipple, Gagliano, Kramer, Mitchelle, Peete, Ware, Harrington...you know why there are no Super Bowl titles. Closest they got was hosting the SB that the Steelers won. Still, Barry Sanders is my all-time favorite player image

    Round 6 was much better on the key RC front...now we are talking!! Key sightings in 1982, 1984 and 1989...none screaming to be graded, but still a thrill to pull some top flight HOF RC's image

    Gotta love that sweet Mandarich card. After SI did an article on him I was sure he'd be a success. Oops.

    Nice Round!

    Rounds 7 and 8 are in the books. The RC pace has definitly picked up in the last few rounds. Landed MINT 9+ copies of a 1989 Score Barry Sanders (one of my all time favorite cards and a shot at GEM 10...this card is sick!!), a 1987 Topps Jerry Rice 2nd Year and another 1988 Topps Bo Jackson RC (3rd one out of 5 cello packs for those keeping count). This takes the RC recap to:

    1981 = Art Monk RC
    1982 = Ronnie Lott RC
    1983 = none
    1984 = Dan Marino RC
    1985 = Warren Moon Sticker RC
    1986 = Bruce Smith RC, Reggie White RC
    1987 = none
    1988 = Bo Jackson RC x 3
    1989 = Barry Sanders RC, Deion Sanders RC, Thurman Thomas RC
    1991 = none
    2007 = Dwayne Jarrett AUTO + Tim Shaw AUTO

    Another thanks to all who continue to comment on the break. Now here are the pics...

    Love that last 87 pack! The Herschel walker was my first ever football card. Of course you got my man Tippett. The 2nd year Rice is really cool, and Flutie RC and Sweetness.

    Btw anybody else notice that it's Delamielleure gone wild?

    Great pull on the Sanders, especially being a Lions fan that must have been a great feeling. Also, love the Marino. Its just too bad it wasn't nicely centered. I feel a Montana RC coming on very soon!! image

    Sorry for the long break, but I had been traveling a bit. Round 9 is nothing to write home about after the long layoff, so you may want to ignore this round and save 5 minutes of your life image

    Great, great thread and so fun to follow. As an active collector and owner of all Topps sets from 1980-1989 and the 1989 Score set, it makes it even better. You've been a Bo-pulling machine so far!!

    Two more HOF RC's made an appearance in round 10 + 11. There is one in 1986 and another in 1989. There were also a handful of solid HOF players that were there as well. The highlight for me though was the rock solid 1988 Brian Bosworth rookie...tough to top that pull.

    This brings the RC recap to:

    1981 = Art Monk RC
    1982 = Ronnie Lott RC
    1983 = none
    1984 = Dan Marino RC
    1985 = Warren Moon Sticker RC
    1986 = Bruce Smith RC, Reggie White RC x 2
    1987 = none
    1988 = Bo Jackson RC x 3
    1989 = Barry Sanders RC, Deion Sanders RC x 2, Thurman Thomas RC
    1991 = none
    2007 = Dwayne Jarrett AUTO + Tim Shaw AUTO + Dante Hughes AUTO

    Round 12 had a couple of new rookies that appeared for the first time. I have forgotten how much I aesthetically like the Warran Moon RC...sweet looking card. There was also a Tippett sighting for Dan. Can I also tell you how anti-climatic it is to open a 1991 Stadium Club pack after busting 1981-1989 football packs?!?!

    This brings the RC recap to:

    1981 = Art Monk RC
    1982 = Ronnie Lott RC
    1983 = none
    1984 = Dan Marino RC
    1985 = Warren Moon RC
    1986 = Bruce Smith RC, Reggie White RC x 2
    1987 = none
    1988 = Bo Jackson RC x 3
    1989 = Barry Sanders RC, Deion Sanders RC x 2, Thurman Thomas RC, Rod Woodson RC
    1991 = none
    2007 = Dwayne Jarrett AUTO + Tim Shaw AUTO + Dante Hughes AUTO

    Great thread. Maybe you should open the 91 stadium club first. Lol.

    I'm interested in the 84 Gault if you're planning to let some of these go. I'm still waiting for some 83 sticker inserts I need. 😀

    Thanks,

    David (LD_Ferg)

    So much for 13 being an unlucky number...this was the best round by far. I won't steal the thunder, but let's just say that some top QB RC's made an appearance this round and one of them is very gradeable image

    image

    Should be a solid MINT 9...if not for the two print dots (one on his name and the lower corner of the photo) this would have been a blazer!!

    Nice pull on the Montana RC. The centering looks great, hopefully is an easy 9 if/when you sub it.

    So you've pulled two D Sanders out of 89 Score. Time for your second B Sanders.

    Now that you've pulled the Montana, only makes sense that Rice will follow in the next round.

    Thanks for scanning the entire packs btw. Makes it fun to scroll through.

    This thread has been an absolute blast to follow, Chris, in no small part because your approach in assembling and ripping the boxes.

    You had the good fortune to pick up some boxes with amazing centering, especially the 1981 box, and I knew chances were good that you'd pull a killer Montana as a result. Alas, I didn't account for fish eyes!

    Here's hoping you pull another Montana, as well as polishing off the rest of your want list. image

    How do I possibly follow up after hitting a Montana, Marino and Dickerson in round 13...nowhere near as well. But that was to be expected. There was a solid Favre RC in this round though that is ready for grading. For the moment he is still the all time passing yard and TD leader (though Peyton is closing quickly). Two other solid WR RC's also made an appearance in this round.

    Thanks for all the great comments on this thread. I am having a blast ripping these packs each weekend!!

    This brings the RC recap to:

    1981 = Joe Montana RC, Art Monk RC
    1982 = Ronnie Lott RC, Chris Collinsworth RC
    1983 = none
    1984 = Dan Marino RC x 2, Eric Dickerson RC
    1985 = Warren Moon RC
    1986 = Bruce Smith RC, Reggie White RC x 2, Andre Reed RC
    1987 = Randall Cunningham RC
    1988 = Bo Jackson RC x 3
    1989 = Barry Sanders RC, Deion Sanders RC x 2, Thurman Thomas RC, Rod Woodson RC, Bruce Matthews RC
    1991 = Brett Favre RC
    2007 = Dwayne Jarrett AUTO + Tim Shaw AUTO + Dante Hughes AUTO

    What is the Tippett situation Dan ? Not ever seen a hard core Tippett fan, although the man was a badass. Not much activity out there in Tippett card land. Did you know the guy ?
