I didn't know, but they still make candy cigarettes.

I was at Myrtle Beach a couple of weeks ago and went
into a general store at one of the shopping areas down
there. I saw a display full of candy cigarettes boxes.

...and yes, I bought a box. I remember really liking
the taste of those when I was a kid. Ate the whole
    box while we walked around.

    They're still awesome!!

I've collected Bronze Age comic books since I was a kid. Have tapered off recently because obtaining high grade comics is too dang expensive!

Thanks for the compliments. I will pass them along.

I have the Mattel Hockey game, but no box. I use to get those as a kid, had the racing one, Football I, and the Basketball II. The Soccer II game is semi-hard to find.

<< <i>MULLINS5: Being an F. Scott Fitzgerald guy, do you have an opinion on the tobacco card backstamps that some people attribute to him? I've never really bought into it, but the two I had went for more than twice what they should have and I'm sure the backstamp was the only reason why. >>

I'm not sure what you're talking about here...can somebody chime in and tell me about these Fitzgerald back stamped cards? Very interested!

Love the cast iron bee, MULLINS5.

Also, thanks for reminding me that I need to get
my 8" cast iron skillet back from my son, so I can
make cornbread again. Yeah, I'm from the south.

Love mechanical banks. Tons of reproductions
out there, which is just as well, since the
ones from the 19th century are pretty pricey.

Your "Trick Dog" bank is missing it's hoop, but
you should be able to fabricate one with some
heavy gauge wire. Here's the one I have as
    an example...

  • Great stuff so far. Love the black and white photos. Love The Hulk 181 and even the Michael Jackson collection is pretty cool.

Not sure if their are any gamers here but this was my pride and joy for a long time. It actually still is. This is probably the one thing that I could never let myself to let go no matter what. I started buying some games off eBay and then from there I would go to Gamestops all across town every week (sometimes twice) when they sold NES games and then to Flea Markets and eventually Goodwill and Salvation Armys.

I picked up all the Nintendo Powers off eBay for about $75 shipped back in the day. As far as the games, I have noticed a HUGE increase in demand and prices but I think the most I ever paid for a game was $30. Contra Force. I could never find that one in the wild and so I picked it up on Ebay. Others like Snow Brothers I probably got for around $8 (I had a few copies but I would sell them for like $30-40 back around 2005. Now they sell for in the $130's and up. Ducktales 2 sells for close to $150 now. Found that one in a Flea Market for $5 around 2003.

Probably the game that I am proudest to own is Tengen Tetris. That game use to sell for about $100 on eBay. Can be had now for about $40. I found one at a Gamestop and picked it up for about $8 and another copy I found at a Flea Market for $5. Talk about a happy feeling when you get something pretty cool at an amazing price.

I have about 256 actual cartridges. No doubles except for Tengen Tetris.

    And so here it is ...my NES collection for your viewing pleasure imagelifter;

    Enjoy.

Wow, that's a lot of NES games!!

Seeing those "Dragon Warrior" games reminds me of
back in the day when my son was young and was into
Nintendo games. I was more or less an observer of
the run and jump hyper games that he was playing.

I ordered him a subscription to "Nintendo Power"
magazine, and the first issue came, wrapped in
plastic with the first "Dragon Warrior" cartridge
    inside the bag.

That started me down the gaming path of turn
based role playing games. A path that led to
the other "Dragon Warriors" and to "Final Fantasy"
    in all its incarnations.

It all started with the original "Dragon Warrior"

"A slime draws near!" I love it!!

Great thread. Love seeing these diverse collectibles. Just a tip on those cast iron banks and other cast iron collectibles. Be careful. Knockoffs are made to look aged by burying in a backyard for up to a year. The dirt acts as an oxidizer and falsely gives the aged appearance. Over the years collected bank coin wrappers (with the banks name on them) and matchbook covers, but no longer. People even collect barb wire if you can believe it. We sure are an island of collectors onto ourselves.

Brutal. I've had about 6 of them that would be 9OC but not one that I was sure would even get a 7.

This is a tremendous thread, but one that threatens my wallet. Hah. Some really cool stuff and several items that bring back memories. Even better than my favorite show - American Pickers.

That NES stash is awesome, DNice... I still have my original Sega Genesis kicking around somewhere with around 50 games. Do these old games even connect to new television inputs?

Really enjoying this thread and the variety of items people collect. It's a nice change of pace from cards, lol..

Here are a couple more images I've scanned from original negatives. The second image is one of my oldest--a 1916 8x10 glass negative taken of the corner of E. 138 Street and Mott Ave. in the Bronx long before it was fully developed...I love the architecture of that building...the turrets almost cantilevering off the side of the structure.

You know, when I saw that Coke ad in one of your pictures tonight, I thought surely someone collect Coke memorabilia.

Pepsi will have to do for now until the King of Colas makes an appearance.

I remember Pops drank those 8-pack 16 ouncers.

I've developed quite an affinity for Round Top Mid 1950's Soda Machines of late.
This one was just completed a few weeks back.

I'm working on a PEPSI one right now, with a Dr. Pepper On The On Deck Circle.
