Autographed Baseball Mystery Lot. Michael Jordan? Opinions Please!

I picked up a lot of (3) Autographed Baseballs on eBay for $19.99 delivered. The title wasn't really good. The description wasn't that great. The picture wasn't either. I thought the Ozzie Smith ball looked good so I took a chance at that price. This is the only picture from the auction...

The package arrived today. Here is the Ozzie Smith on a National League Baseball...

Mystery Ball #1 turned out to be Lou Brock. Signed on a Spalding All-Star Baseball. The signature is faded and the ball looks to have chocolate milk or something on it...

Mystery Ball #2 is Michael Jordan? It's signed on an American League Baseball featuring the Comiskey Park Inaugural Year Logo from 1991. Please tell me this is legit!

I feel good about The Brock and Smith as well. The more I look at the Jordan the more I think it's good. To me it kind of has that rushed ballpark signature look. The M not having the loop had me leaning against it at first. After looking closer it looks like the pen just went dry for a stroke. If that makes sense. Maybe just wishful thinking though.

    Thanks

while i agree the MJ looks rushed, the M just seems so exaggerated to make the "23" that everyone always looks for - for me that's just a big red flag

if you're not sure, send it in - but i'd be really surprised if PSA would sticker it without a really good story

    baseballfan - Thanks!

bounce - I sent message to the seller to see if he knew anything about where the balls came from. Maybe I can find that story! I appreciate your input.

    Thanks

The seller said he doesn't know anything about them. I guess I can believe that considering he didn't even scan 2 of the signatures for the auction.

    Thanks

I am far from being an auto expert, but I vote for the Brock looking the most authentic,
followed by the Ozzie, then the MJ. I hope the Jordan is good!

Cubby - Same here. I appreciate it! (Love the user name by the way. We have a 9 year old Chocolate Lab named Cubby!)

    Thanks

  • I'm no expert but maybe the jordan is good, he prob didn't have a lot of experience signing the smaller baseballs compared to basketballs. Who knows, good luck though
.Looking for ANY National Bank notes of Skaneateles, NY

I never thought about that. If it was signed in 1991 you're probably correct. I can't imagine he'd been asked to sign a baseball very often at that point.

    Thanks

Its always tough comparing the "real deal sit down sig" with the 1 second standing up fifteen things shoved in my face sig. In my opionion do i think Jordan signed it, Probably, do i think theres anyway psa or jsa will pass it, no. I once had pictures of about 5 items being signed quickly in person and took it to psa, they told me I was buying bad stuff...i said I have pictures of me right next to Ray lewis and him signing my item, they said "But thats not his signature"..... >.< youd be wasting your money asking for a psa opionion on that

Wolfgang427 - Thanks for the picture.

GR - I appreciate the input. I've thought about listing it on eBay with a high BIN and using the PSA Quick Opinion. Has anyone ever done that before. It's only $10.00 for eBay auctions.

    Thanks

i agree with most of the sentiment here, ultimately i think the MJ is "inconclusive"

one reason i'm ALWAYS skeptical of MJ signatures is, he was IMPOSSIBLE TO GET

i collected in person signatures starting early/mid 90s, and literally got just about everyone - EXCEPT MJ

i traveld to other cities, got our own room in the team hotels so we could chill in the lobby, etc - and never once was able to get michael

didn't mean he didn't sign, but it was so hard and unlikely to get him - so when kind of random people show up with them, it's really hard for me to believe they got it themselves and/or that they're authentic

i know it happens, but it's not common and there are literally THOUSANDS of forgeries of MJ autographs especially from that mid-90s era, so without any kind of story its so hard to authenticate

i think if you don't want it, list it and accept best offers and see what happens - it wouldn't surprise me if you got an offer $200 or even more for it
