Was digging through pictures and found this experiment...

Busted several cases of 2007 Topps Update Series and found these:

Took an exacto knife to them and ended up with this:

and this:

Sent them off to PSA and ended up with these:

Olbermann ended up buying one of them...I had fun with that one.

I incorrectly said 2007 above. 2008 Topps Updates and Highlights Hobby is what I got mine out of.

Very nice process. Well done B. Ziddy.

Great thread. It would make my day if Olbermann purchased something for me. Couldn't watch him when he was doing politics, but I love his show - especially the first 10 minutes where he does his detailed stories. Thanks for sharing. I imagine these cards are worth more slabbed, right?
Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

Yeah, they were going for $40-80 out of the packs. Slabbed I ended up getting ~$100 each for the two lower grades. The Howard went in the $500 range IIRC.

    B. Ziddy, to what do you attribute the 2, 3.5 and 5 range of grades on the three T206 cards? The condition of the cards does not appear to be very divergent in the images that you posted.

  • I'd be interested in the Lincecums from 2007 Topps update, he's my sons favorite pitcher.

The Hickman has a tear in the top border, directly above his right ear -- otherwise it was probably the nicest. The Schulte had some serious wear on the corners while the Howard had visible wear, was fairly nice all around.
