I disagree...I'm surprised at how much is still left. Almost all of their higher end vintage boxes are still there. Interesting...prices are probably now stable or in the near term trending down. A couple of the boxes I've sold in previous months are listed lower and still there. I bet BBCE does better when the National is in Chicago...which of course I WILL BE THERE in 2015, knock on wood!!!
Belz, You can't imagine how much great stuff BBCE had on Tuesday. Many high end boxes sold the first couple of days. Do they still have some really nice boxes left? Yes, but how can you determine that the sale of high end stuff did not move if you were not there the first day? Knowing what was there I can see what remains. Most all of the mid 70's football is gone.

Really Shane? That's surprising to me considering I see shelves of 84 and 86 football in that video...74 wax football at 2G, 78 wax, 79 cello, 71, 72...I saw those on a video at the beginning of the show. Also looks to be a ton of packs and baseball/basketball unopened boxes still remaining.
You are correct though, I wasn't there. Just comparing from what happened in 2013...when almost everything vanished.
In Chicago they had a similar and larger stash and it was almost all gone by the end..the volume percentage sold in Chicago was crazy. I remember coming back on Sunday for another 1975 cello football from sealed (2000.00) and 1984 wax (475.00) and those were all out from a huge stash that started on Wednesday...just saying.
I didn't realize they sold that much "other than" unopened.
I wonder if some of that stuff like the autos were consigned? >>

If you follow Reed's road trips on Facebook, you soon find out that, while he's always chasing unopened hoards, he is also setting up appointments for vintage singles, sets, memorabilia, as well as autographed items.
He'll often post on Facebook when he makes a deal on any of the above items. It's pretty interesting and worth clicking on "Follow" so you can keep up with what they're bringing in to the shop.
I doubt much, if any, of the auto stuff is consigned.

Awesome video. I'm also surprised about the amount still left on the shelves. I agree with one of the previous posters that we may have hit a new equilibrium.
I'm not the best at economics... but if your inventory sells out extremely quickly, that might mean that your prices were too low. If "only" 50%-75% of your inventory sells in a matter of five days, that might mean you're getting closer to where your prices need to be, but in the grand scheme of things your prices still might be a little on the low side.
Belz I am just going off memory but I know that they sold a 86-87 Fleer box, 2 75 Topps minis boxes, 2 or 3 1977 Topps baseball, 1976 Topps FB, 2 1976 Topps BB, 2 1975 Topps FB and a couple of other mid 70's along with 50 or so mid 80's boxes from FB and BB just on Tuesday from 11:00 to 4:00. I am not even mentioning all the rack and cello packs from $200-1000 that day. Then one or two cases were sold as well on Tuesday for pretty big numbers. Again, in looking at the video it does seem many items were gone. I think if you saw the booth on set up day you would have noticed a big chunk missing is all I am saying.

Hey Shane..makes sense. I heard he had 2 Million in product so clearly he sold quite a bit...I never get sick of seeing his unopened items for sale...just remarkable, and glad to hear that you saw him selling a bunch at current prices. Good stuff.
Prices are not trending down in my opinion. Some of the stuff Steve had was on consignment with a higher price point for that reason. Even though I believe a lot of the consignment stuff sold quickly.
Belz I have no idea what amount of value was there from an unopened stand point at the beginning of the show but I would bet 1/3 of it was sold. BBCE had a very large collection of sets and single cards as well that seemed to be a hot button with many collectors. I can't wait to see what material will be on his website in the next month or so when he has a second to log them in.

We are back from the National Convention in Cleveland. Thanks to everyone who came by and said hello! It was busy from the beginning to the end. For those of you who couldn't make it to the show...don't worry. We probably bought as much stuff as we took there. We will be updating the website over this week with all the unopened product we brought back.
I was comparing the preview pics ( by criss?) with yours on sunday and looked like a nice amount was sold. Didn't clean out the shelves. Also don't know how much was replaced by what steve bought. Either way from the percentage of posts who went straight there and those posted it seems steve did well. I'd bet one of the most popular booths.
I do sense the equilibrium. I've gone from an outright buyer of just about any unopened in the last few yrs to an outright seller. Keeping a select few. I just can't see paying mid teen thousands when I paid $5k 2-3 yrs ago. Even if people think $15k is a fair price for one box or even a great price, what percentage of us are gonna pull out the credit card when there are other areas where the money is better spent?
Sounds like it was a fun time had by all. Post more pics if you can guys. Much appreciated and enjoyed!

I agree with Shane as there were a lot of boxes that went out the door on Tuesday that never made it on film. It was my understanding that BBCE had $2 Million of product at the show based on what Reed said. I'd say one-third is a good estimate of what they sold. You also have to keep in mind that they were buying at the show and some of the product made its way back onto the shelves to fill in some holes. Shane can correct me, but if I recall I saw someone buy a ton of unopened football on Tuesday. The thing I noticed is that there were less 1960's packs than in past years.

Here's what I gathered for most of the 1970s baseball wax boxes that BBCE brought to the show: 1971 - not available 1972 - two boxes - both sold 1973 - 4th series box - unsure if sold 1974 - not available 1975 - not available (mini boxes were available) 1976 - two boxes - both sold 1977 - four boxes - all sold (first time in two years he had them for sale)
It appeared to me that the 78 wax, 79 wax/cello and 80 wax/cello wasn't moving. Maybe Steve was selling and replacing in the display case. It seems to me those may be getting close to their price point. Then again, I said that two years ago.....LOL.
Steelernation- the prices look correct with the exception of the 1973 box. Cincyredlegs - If there were any boxes that did not move quickly it was the 1978-1980 Topps baseball. But it is hard to tell because I don't know how much they had of these boxes from the beginning. Obviously a 1979 Topps rack case sold for the break here on the message boards, but no one knows if BBCE had two cases that they were selling by the box. Personally if I had $12,000 to spend at BBCE my purchase would have never been a box of 1978-1980 Topps baseball. I think those years are great years but I am throwing my money down on the boxes you never see for my collection. In speaking with the guys there on Tuesday (CPA, Scott, Chris, Todd and Dave) we all were coveting the same items. Esquire - There were a couple of 1975 Topps Cello boxes available. Not sure how much they sold for but you are correct BBCE did not have wax boxes from 1975.

Do you know what the 1973 was priced at? I thought 4k was low myself. I was also wondering what any pre1980 boxes (all except vending) were priced at that I missed?
I saw a 75 cello box still there in a sunday pic..if that helps answer the one question. And pretty sure it was listed at $3800.
Not really sure SteelerNation on the pricing of that box. As for the discount of boxes- Steve has always been fair with me on reducing a little here and there, but I have no idea what Steve did for other sales.
