the ups guy just dropped off a few gorgeous 1979 topps wax trays....just added some sunshine to this muggy rainy day in WV(must be the mint bright yellow wax)...these babies are flawless! dave, thanks for all your hard work in putting this together! -phillip

I'm glad to hear that, Mike --my wife texted me that I got two boxes from Steve today so I'm hoping my trays and minis are in one and that 73 rack from the FB lot is in the other.

Yeah, if someone is going to flip it, they gotta make some money after ebay/paypal fees. Mine will sit on a shelf above my computer as my "newest cool purchase" until i buy something else worthy. Then they will go into the closet hopefully they make their way to California soon!

Got my 3 trays last week--they are as pristine as any 79 tray I've seen. Will be keeping mine sealed. Thanks again, David, for setting this up!

Mine was really nice also Tim.
And I not only thank Dave but feel bad about how he was reamed by some here without evidence.
I'm sure Steve Hart is not happy about it either.
I didn't read most of the poofed thread and didn't realize all of what was being said.
I would hope our forum is better than that and cooler heads will help to stop anything like that in the future.
Stone, They both did pretty much exactly what people claimed they did. One of the posters went hyperbolic but it was pretty clear that together those you mention crossed the line with the labeling. Dave went ahead and decided to fix it but if they hadn't done something questionable he would never have needed to send the boxes back for relabeling.

Robb - since the thread is gone - I have no idea who did/said what - so I'm gonna go on perception.
As a general statement - there's a big difference between asking about the act performed as opposed to judging the intent without evidence.
Stone, It was too bad the thread had to be poofed as there was some legitimate discussion going on. That said I would take those boxes off Dave's hands in a heartbeat however they were labeled.

I honestly believe there is a bigger premium in the fact that they are going to be labeled as being from sealed wax trays rather than what was originally on them.
That's a bit of a harsh response. The poster was out of town a bit longer than he expected. The policy is that if later than 7 days items get offered to others who are waiting.
The poster did contact me a few days after the 7 day period intending to pay. Calling him a name was really unfair
<< <i>By the way, yes, thank you Dave for organizing the break. Even though I sent a private message expressing my gratitude, I guess a public thank you would be good at this point. >>

My only point in posting today was that I really think we can try to be polite. The anonymity of a message board userid doesn't mean that we can just be antagonistic in our postings without any concern at all.
Your curiosity was definitely not unreasonable. I just felt that someone was being judged a but harshly without any real justification.
In any event, I am happy that this worked out for everyone. It's getting harder to find traditional opportunities for these kinds of activities, so it's great when an unorthodox opportunity can be made to work.
I won't stoop to the level of the newbie who felt it necessary to bash me and I will not justify his posts with a negative response here but, yes, I was camping and was late in responding but I did call Steve as soon as I got back home and paid. I was then notified via a PM here that someone else got my FASC tray. I was bummed but I really should have paid Steve before I went away. My apologies to all. Steve did send me a 1979 tray minus the FASC label so all is not lost. I also paid for my group rip stuff at the same time and received a 1978 cello with Eddie Murray RC showing on back (see pics in other post) !!!
Ps- I have participated in numerous rips and subs, have always paid on time. My eBay feedback also reflects this.
<< <i>Dave, It is looking like we will have to start resorting to more of these kind of breaks. Like the auction house one as well as this one. >>
I am more than happy to look for off-the-beaten track opportunities to be shared by our community. All I ask in return is that we TRY to keep things in perspective, TRY to give each other respect/the benefit of the doubt and treat each other civilly. As I said earlier, the anonymity of a virtual community userid is not a valid excuse for being impolite or condescending.
