My collection needs a "style coach"

Just looking at my 3-cent nickels. I have 15 of the planned 23 coin "business strike" set. I'm rather proud of the quality, given that most (10) are "lowly" MS-63 graded. (2 are AU, 3 are MS-62).

But they are pretty much all in different holders!!

1 PCGS Blue 2-tone label, pronged gasket, no series, long hologram
3 PCGS Blue, full gasket, w/series, barcode front, small hologram
1 PCGS Blue, full gasket, w/series, barcode back, small hologram
1 PCGS Blue, full gasket, w/series, barcode front, long hologram
1 PCGS Blue, full gasket, no series, barcode front, long hologram
1 PCGS Green
1 PCGS Green “fatty”
1 NGC, full gasket, large hologram
1 NGC, full gasket, small hologram
1 NGC no-line fatty, gold label, w/barcode
1 NGC no-line fatty, gold label, no barcode
1 NGC no-line fatty, green label, no barcode
1 ICG Green

Frankly, I don't care. But I thought it was funny having such an extensive history of US slabs in one short series!

So, question for the masses: How do YOUR selected series collections look? A mish-mash of grades and holders? Or are you meticulous picking ONE grade, and getting them into ONE holder type??

About half are in PCGS and NGC slabs, and the remaining pieces are raw. Some of the raw coins/medals/tokens were purchased that way, and others were removed from their TPG slabs. Grades range from 25 to 67, and about 50 pieces are contemporary counterfeits made for circulation or electrotypes made for collectors or museums.

here's an old picture of about half of my half dollar collection, many different kinds of holders and many raw.

the holder never mattered in shopping for these, just the coin and the price, but ended up with a survey of the TPGs

I don't seem to have that problem. My half dimes, both Capped Bust and Liberty Seated, by die marriage, are almost all in a uniform grade of AU-58, and they are all in the very same holders - my own 2x2's. A few are still in slabs, but I will get to them soon.

"the holder never mattered in shopping for these, just the coin and the price". Bingo!

I have a little of everything but some of my nicer coins are in old Anacs holders.

My collection is a mish mash of grades and holder styles. Virtually everything is NGC, PCGS or raw.

The only time I worry about holders is when they are scratched in such a way that it impairs my enjoyment of the piece. Then I spend money on getting re-holdered. Since I have discovered the joys of headlight wax, I do not have to worry so much about getting things re-holdered any more.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
