Phish - must've seen em 50 or so times. Grateful Dead - not quite as many times as Phish, but a decent amount. Metallica - only saw them once back in 94 The Doors - saw the 3 remaining members not long before Ray passed away. Allman Brothers - ahh, the Beacon shows.
There are plenty of others, but these top the list.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.
Black Label Society, Tool, Alice in Chains, A Perfect Circle, Porcupine Tree, Antimatter, Riverside, Demians, Slayer, Buckethead, Radiohead, Gravenhurst, Rage Against the Machine, Megadeth, Dead Weather and Iron Maiden.
nice. If you're unfamiliar with Deerhunter and Dead Meadow, do yourself a favor by listening/juxtaposing Gravenhurst's "Islands" in between two songs; Deerhunter's "Octet" and Dead Meadow's "At Her Open Door".

I respect them because they rolled with ever changing music scene. They and their music evolved instead of dying off when the rest of the hair bands did in the early 90's. Bon Jovi kept making good music through the 90's and well into the 2000's
"Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood."
Alice In Chains (with Layne) Stone Temple Pilots (best freshman + sophomore releases I can think of... unfortunately 90% of what they did afterwards sucked) Rollins Band (Henry Rollins is a beast!) Machine Head (one of the few rock/metal bands that actually got BETTER with age) Tool (Maynard is a mad musical genius) Rush (talk about staying power) Iron Maiden (through Dickinson's first stint) Pantera (R.I.P. Dimebag)
Honorable mention to: Queen Adreena, Linkin Park, Corrosion Of Conformity, Helmet, Rammstein, Fear Factory, Chimaira, Nothingface, Godsmack, Jack Off Jill / Scarling, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, My Ruin, Mushroomhead, Sevendust & Soundgarden.
I am a fan of much rap, R&B and Motown music. The thread only asked for favorite rock bands... >>
Indeed! Let's not forget Nicodemus, Supercat, Junior Demus...not Ninjaman though. Jamaican dance hall, Addies HiFi from the Biltmore Ballroom and the old Sting clashes...fabulous.
Michael McDonald (Doobie Brothers) is a musical genius. His knowledge of music theory is displayed in the architecture of his song writing. Very difficult chord progressions in many of his songs.
went to the Ohio State Fair this weekend and they had a concert during the fair that had Bachman Turner Overdrive, Foghat and Blue Oyster Cult, although these are not my all time favorite rock bands I wish I had known they were there so I could have attended.......and it was only $28 for the concert. amazing how you can go see many of the bands from when I was in my early 20's for cheap these days

By far my favorite band. I'm obsessed with anything Maynard is involved in.

Never got to see them live, but I'm hearing that Lambert is acceptable as a new frontman, so I'll eventually do so.

They are very hard to enjoy with kids.
I really only have three, Beatles to Styx to Rush. No band has topped Rush since in my book.
I still enjoy listening to current music though and like bands such as One Direction, Black Eyed Peas, and Eminem. >>
