O/T : What Are Your Favorite Rock Bands?

You can pick one or pick by decade. I'll start.

70's - Boston. Bradly Delp's vocals and the guitar sound = awesomeness

80's- Journey. Steve Perry's soaring vocal range, Neal Schon on lead guitar. I spent many a night driving around in the old brown Nova, jamming out with my Pioneer cassette deck and 6x9 speakers haha!

90's - Metallica. The Black album then Load. I have fond memories of the Load album. It came out when I moved out of mom's house. First time on my own, paying my own bills, in my own apartment. Good times!

2000's - Evanescence. Amy Lee's angelic voice coupled with crunching guitar riffs. Plus, who doesn't like looking at Amy Lee?

You'll need to go back a bit further for Douglas, whose favorite band was Tommy Dorsey. image

    These are my choices:

    1960s: The Doors
    1970s: Led Zeppelin
    1980s: U2

I pretty much stopped following music after that, LOL..

I also loved the Bee Gees, too, LOL..

Funny, I was watching the British open last week which
was held just outside of Liverpool, so of course, they
asked some of the golfers to name the four Beatles.

They were having a difficult time. Some of them could
name two or three, but even they seemed to get stuck
    on George Harrison.

It was a funny little segment.

The Pink Floyd/Waters solo/Gilmour solo, all albums, solo esp Pro & Cons, Radio Kaos (with Magicbilly), Amused to Death & On and Island.

The Talking Heads - More Songs about Buildings and Food to Speaking in Tongues

    David Bowie - 1972-1979, and 1995 on...

    Radiohead/Yorke - 1993/95 on into Amok/Atoms for Peace

The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream to Adore only

Plastic Ono Nuclear Band - 1970?whatever (Toronto w/Clapton) and on to now.

With the exception of Floyd, I have had the good fortune to have special experiences with all image
Not all were good - ranging from ridiculous ("you took my pen!") to insulting ("aren't you a little old for this?") to unbelievable ("...what...was..in that? Thank you" and I am not quoting me) to incredible ("Hold my guitar for me while I deal with this...can I take you someplace? Wanna come?") to just god awful experiences ("Arrest that man!"). But, that is a very different thread... image

Great replies so far! I recently (within the last few years) have got into country music. Not the old "I lost my job and my dog died" stuff. In particular Jamey Johnson. He's an old school, throwback kinda guy. If you like southern rock, you will love him. link

And going back a bit further:

    1950s: Elvis Presley
    1940s: Glenn Miller Band

Top 10: in order of evolution from kid through college.
Stones, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, KISS, Queen, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Green Day

You could easily sprinkle in many of the previously named.

I remember my first concert was Day on the Green featuring Loverboy, Foreigner, Scorpions, and Iron Maiden. I went as a fan of the first 2, came back a fan of the second 2.

Cool thread. I've learned quite a bit about the group in the last week.

Don't know if I have a true favorite Matt.

Played in bands - Eagles were tops on my list - southern rock - like Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Here I am around 1990 - have shown before - we played 70s/80s music with some currents like STP Interstate Love Song e.g.

Had my "Yanks" thing going that night.

First band - we did the Beatles and stuff in the 60s.

I really only have three, Beatles to Styx to Rush. No band has topped Rush since in my book.

I still enjoy listening to current music though and like bands such as One Republic, Black Eyed Peas, and Eminem.
