O/T - What do you do for a living?

I thought it would be interesting to start a thread to see what types of professions collectors end up gravitating towards, if there is even any correlation. I've noticed a bunch of CPA's, some that don't even practice as such anymore. So, what do you do for a living?

I'm a CPA and work as a tax accountant. I'm going to be broad in the descriptions and I'll count guys like Doug in two categories if they had two different distinct jobs.

Professions:
1) CPA (Accountant) - 4
2) Engineer (Electrical, Environmental Health & Safety) - 3
3) Attorney - 1
4) IT (Cyber Security) - 5
5) Insurer - 1
6) Real Estate - 1
7) Sports Collectibles (Local Card Shop) - 2
8) Mortage Broker (Reverse Mortgage) - 2
9) Locomotive Engineer - 1
10) Advertising (Copywriter, Creative Director, Sales) - 3
11) Firefighter - 1
12) Financial Advisor - 1
13) Education (Professor, Teacher, Dean) - 4
14) Films & TV (Screenwriter/Producer) - 2
15) Veterinarian - 1
16) Dentist - 2
17) Executive (CEO, AVP) - 2
18) Photographer - 1
19) Architectural Sales/Commercial Construction - 1
20) Postal Worker - 1
21) Manager (Software Sales, Warehouse) - 2
22) Government Employee/Public Servant - 1
23) Business Development - 1
24) Factory Worker - 1

What did you do before you retired or did you hit the lottery at a young age? image

Thanks for the clarification. I'll have to go back and group some of the professions better later.

geez - i really needed to think this one over. what am i? or what have i been? image

for the past 5+ years, i've been nothing but a sports enthusiast who buys and sells on behalf of my own private business.

before that, i ran a distribution warehouse full of photographic products, amongst other things. i guess that makes me a former "manager". image

this best part of the "living" was never really that. a little over 20 years ago, i was a volunteer roadie for my buddy's rock 'n' roll band, even supplied the van. they almost made it, too. just think - if they had, i might be perpetually wasted and spending my nights with strange hookers in the back of a traveling mega-bus. instead, i currently own recording equipment, amps, guitars and countless gadgets for entertainment purposes.

    bummer. image
