I would assume not cause it's 3/4 of an oz with a premium that almost brings it to spot.

Ira's are not about spot or a premium over spot (look at the proof gold eagles). It's about what is allowed. Buffalo 24kt gold is not allowed, and I can't imagine these being allowed either

I'm so used to seeing the silver halves that this gold piece would feel phony. Like it had been plated or filled with chocolate. I'm gonna pass hard.

If the design wasn't so similar, if there was one or more major differences besides the date, I would consider buying one. Like a different portrait (like they did on our currency).

Also, when are they going to quit with the display boxes? Don't they know that we slab and stack? Who wants to pay premiums for boxes. It's just annoying. They should offer the boxes a la carte for a small additional fee, for customers who want them. Seriously.

Also, I try to avoid buying things (or committing to buying) before the price has been announced. Maybe it's the haggler in me, but it goes against my nature.

Some of us like the original mint packaging and go out of our way to collect it. I miss the four and six piece sets in the wooden boxes that the mint used to issue, and I am sorry that I will probably never be able to collect the four piece Buffalo gold set in the original holder.

Still, the big, heavy box, like the one the 2009 Ultra High Relief coin came in was a bit too much.

Rubber gloves to protect the coin from oils and dirt, and metal tongs with serrated edges on the rim with reeded edge.

Brilliant ! Guess the grade image. I like it , anyway.

I think these may fizzle down the road because of the post-HOF effect.

I think a bunch of people will pile in to flip and flipping will be good for a while because of the time it takes to ship to people, but maybe 12 months later prices will be lower as the flippers will flip into lower demand than for the HOF coins.

PS: I kick myself for not ordering a couple more clad HOF when ordering the clad kennedy sets. I think they will make good gifts.

    I'm in...one for sure.
From the popularity of the 2 coin clad set I am expecting a mod scene in the waiting room on the 5th.

You don't put 24K gold coins in albums. But if you want to put yours in one be my guest.

I'll mash it in with metal tongs

(Did those tongs have a soft plastic grip on them?)

Why? You can get them in the aftermarket for a lot less.
