What sport do you remember Bo Jackson for more?

The guy was as popular as you can get at the time playing baseball and football, but I just seem to always remember him as a baseball player. I watched him play his whole career in both sports and was obviously a much better football player than baseball player, but the baseball player is the only part I seem to look back at. I love both sports, so it feels a little weird saying that since his football career is almost non existent with me and he was on his way to being one of the greatest if not the greatest running back ever. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Baseball, because being a Chargers fan, I couldn't stand the Raiders. My dad is an Auburn alum, and Bo was my favorite growing up. Hard to watch him in a Raiders jersey.

Baseball, though I wasn't into NFL football at that time and watched a ton of MLB. Now it seems to have reversed, ever since I started playing fantasy FB.

  • I am a University of Georgia alum and football fan so, for me, I immediately think about Bo in an Auburn football uniform. There were some great UGA/AU games back in the day. The UGA/AU game during Bo's freshmen year featured him against Herschel Walker. Two of the best ever on the same field that day. Pretty cool memory.

I lived in Orlando in the mid 80's and went to watch Bo play in a minor league game. He beat out a routine ground ball
to shortstop for a hit and he threw a strike from right field to nail a runner at the plate after a base hit even though the runner was off with
the crack of the bat with 2 outs. (It wasn't even a close play at the plate.) From that day on I was a huge Bo the baseball player fan.
He was truly a man among boys that day.

Football for sure. He was a gifted athlete and could do some amazing things on the diamond too but let's be real--he made Rob Deer look like a contact hitter.

Baseball. He started his pro sports career as a baseball player and finished his sports career as a baseball player...and he only played in 38 career games as a football player.

38 NFL football games is the equivalent of about 400 MLB games.

He was definitely more talented as a football player, but that was/is a tougher sport to play if you are not 100% physically.

He was my guy in Tecmo Bowl, but over the years those highlight reel throws from the outfield and breaking the bat over his head stick with me more.

Football and not even close. He was very talented at baseball. If he would've had a long career he had a shot at the Hall. But in football he was elite. He not only would have made the Hall but if he could have had a long career he would've been a top 5 all-time RB.

Even with a small sample had he stayed healthy he had a shot at being an all time great in Football. In Baseball that wasn't the case. I did love it when he ran vertically on the outfield wall.

To me he was always a football player that also played baseball.
  • 89 All Star game MVP got him major attention that lead to all those Bo Know commerical. So I will have to say baseball.
His 1st minor league card in 1986 which is really undervalue compare to his 1987 with Frank Thomas.

I remember Bo playing both sports and bought in to all the hype Nike built around him. I was more interested in baseball at the time so he sticks out in my mind as a baseball player, despite him being a better football player.

Definitely football to me. He was first and foremost a football player who just so happened to be so athletically gifted that he could play major league baseball as a hobby.

I'm glad I got to see him play and that he's enjoyed a resurgence of popularity on the heels of the ESPN 30 For 30 documentary.

One of the greatest "what if" stories in all of sports.

I was just about to write nearly the exact same thing!!!
Loved watching him play for the Royals. Probably one of my favorites of all time. He needed work here and there, but he was fun to watch!
Being Chiefs fan, I couldn't believe he had to play for the #1 rival...
