side going into town. They are all along the river there that was worked by a floating dredge. Seems that the
dredge owners set the grates to 3/4 inch. Which means all material larger than 3/4 was discarded
into those tailing piles. Well, it seems that there were more than one nugget larger than 3/4 of an
inch and detectorists today still find them in those piles.
It was more economical to reduce everything to 3/4 and less for the onboard sluice to work properly.
Oh well, been meaning to go back and detect but it seems I'm only there in the winter for skiing and
detecting in that weather under all that snow is a big problem. Need to go in the fall when the weather
is best.

Edited: so I understand why this huge nugget was discarded.
I knew it would happen.

<< <i>$270K at current melt..... Cheers, RickO >>
Would that need to be refined first?

It is a lot rarer and more desirable as a huge nugget than as bullion.

I was just musing that you couldn't get a real melt value as is.
