Memory Lane 1975 Topps Mini Pack Rip **Plus 1980 Topps Cello Pack**

I am going to open 3 of the 4 packs I got from the recent ML group rip~the 4th pack I will keep sealed for my unopened collection as it is too nice to rip, lol...The others have small pinholes in the corners of the pack, so I've already come to terms with their demise. image Scans to follow!

    Thanks, guys, LOL..

OK, after pulling this, the second card in the first pack, I began to seriously question exactly why I had decided to open these, LOL..

But things perked up a bit after that ignominious start..the good news is that I pulled 3 HOFers (and one that should be) in 3 packs. The bad news is that centering was less than ideal. Still, a PSA 9OC Yount will pay for at least one of the packs, and it's always a thrill to pull one of the "big two" rookie cards from this set.

    Tim,

Love the Tigers team card. That would be a great card in my raw set. Make believe you never got the pack and sell me that card!

    Nice pickup on the Yount!

Centering was all over the place as typical with mini packs, but did pull some pretty nice cards, too.

Tim, the gods have blessed you with incredible player luck when opening.

On the other hand, they also seemed to have cursed you with bad centering luck.
  • cpamikecpamike Posts: 5,566 ✭✭✭
Nice pulls Tim. Seems like you got less than ideal centering though. Always a crapshoot.

    Any Mets for Slabbed?

These two were especially nice. The 71 MVP card is a blazer--great color, beautifully centered and razor sharp. image

All in all, a very fun rip and with the star power and a few of the nicer commons, I may break actually even, LOL! Who says ripping vintage is always a losing proposition??

Congrats on the Yount! Its still a rush when you pull one of the biggies, regardless of the centering, I bet!! Thanks for showing the pics!

The centering may have varied, but those cards came out incredibly clean. The Yount is gorgeous. Well done!

Thanks, guys, I appreciate the kind words!

I decided to open one more pack--a 1980 Topps baseball cello pack. This pack was one of the loosely wrapped variations from this year, so corners were nice and sharp. Centering again was an issue but 3 of the 25 cards inside made the cut, including a very sharp George Brett!

Nice pulls, I always enjoy seeing your rips. I've got a few of those loose wrapped 80 cellos... I should send them to you to rip for me, can't bring myself to do it.

Mark, at current prices per pack, opening 4 is like opening 12 a couple years ago, so it all evens out! LOL!

Just getting back into work this week and have my two 75 mini packs.

One has Steve Carlton and the other has Danny Thompson showing thru. Having ripped anything yet. Debating on slabbing the Carlton.

    Thanks,

    David (LD_Ferg)

Very nice, but subbing wax is very dicey as PSA will not holder wax packs in which gum is either loose or broken.

  • Hi probability that a George brett is right behind that Carlton. I'd rip it and take my chances on pulling an 8 or better.

Close, but Brett would be card preceding Carlton if Carlton is face out in back.
